wasn't technical so I thought it was gonna be a behavioral interview. But
today she told me that position is no longer available, do I want her to
look for some other position for me. I was like sure. Then she asked me how
good is my Java, and I was like "When I took the class I got an A+ so I
think it's pretty good." Then she asked me some basic Java questions and I
completely bombed them. 尼玛我怎知道你会马上问technical。早知道的话昨晚就
review了。。。。。靠。 Bye bye Mountain View....>.<
PS: interview的原因是current company is not doing too good, 绝对会裁员。So I
want to jump ship. |

都开始出现在了面试里面。靠！现在面试搞得跟高考GRE一样。ft！

final round of interview for what would be an ideal job for me. they asked
me behavioral shit, like talk about a case when you have to deal with a
difficult situation or people at work. i talked about my teaching experience
, how some students just don't give a fuck in the beginning about this class
. i tried to engage them by reaching out, asking about their concerns, what
they want to learn and how they want the lectures to be, what trouble they
have with exams, meeting with them one-on-one after midterms. slowly they
see that the instructor cares, and they start to care too and like this
class and get involved. eventually we build a trusty long term relation,
years later students would come back to me and ask about graduate school
decisions or job market stuff. when i saw that look of trust in their eyes,
i knew that i had done a good job.
their conclusion was that i am articulate in talking, but was "too academic"
and should be a good fit to become a teacher. well i am sorry, but i have
zero corporate working experience. i am not good at bullshitting and can
only talk about what i have done and how it's shaped me into who i am. what
else can i talk about? i spent most of my life in school, and i am not gonna
hide that part from anyone. i believe the ability to work in academia
should translate into working in other sectors, but apparently they don't
think so. i do respect their decisions. and will march on.

有时候就是招个entry level的职位，你非要把自己说得多么多么厉害，对方也会害怕吧
说实话很多雇主就喜欢能老老实实干活的人，而不是想法特别多的
