Shares of AstraZeneca PLC surged on the New York and London stock exchanges
Wednesday amid speculation the pharmaceutical maker could be a takeover target

AstraZeneca's U.S. shares closed at $47.56, gaining $1.71, or 3.7 percent, on
the New York Stock Exchange. The shares there are up 15 percent in the past
year.
