at GSK Pharmaceuticals R&D through the integrative analysis of internal and
external biomedical data, combining strong computational skills with
biological insight. Our analysis competencies are quite diverse with a focus
on target biology, spanning areas such as sequence analysis, comparative
genomics, pathways and networks, molecular evolution, RNA/protein expression
, drug repositioning, disease indications, structural biology, population/
molecular genetics, epigenomics, microbiome/host pathogen analysis, etc....
We contribute to projects at different phases of the drug discovery and
development pipeline. Our work results in real impacts on new medicines for
highly important diseases of unmet medical need.
We currently have openings for talented and motivated computational
biologists/bioinformaticians within the GSK Computational Biology Department
in the US (Philadelphia, PA) and in the UK (Stevenage, Herts).
As a Computational Biologist you will have a strong technical background in
bioinformatics / computational biology / computer science and/or high
throughput genomics allied with a good knowledge of biology. Roles available
include the identification, the development, implementation, use of
computational biology methods in drug discovery and development and/or
management of our computer systems and data. You will be comfortable with
working in a dynamic, fast changing environment, and able to communicate
complex bioinformatics principles, analyses and results to scientists from
diverse backgrounds. You will be expected to work well in team based
projects. You will be expected to maintain and develop appropriate
computational biology/bioinformatics skills, as well as, your internal and
external profile through presentations and peer-reviewed publications as
appropriate.
