Sanofi has announced about 100 layoffs in Massachusetts as part of a
research and development overhaul.
Sanofi SA acknowledged the job cuts in its Genzyme division Wednesday. The
layoffs will largely effect facilities in Cambridge, with about 70 at the
rare disease-focused Sanofi Genzyme Research and Development Center and 30
at a smaller cancer research center.
Company officials said the decision marked a "natural evolution" of its
broader research reorganization, though reports indicated it reflected the
struggles of its oncology division since it formed in 2009.
Tal Zaks, who led that division, will reportedly depart the company and
Sanofi will move cancer research into its overall R&D operation, which will
focus on rare disease and neuro-immunology.
Sanofi purchased Genzyme in 2011 for more than $20 billion and some 5,000 of
its 110,000-employee global workforce is located in the state. A Sanofi
spokesman said the layoffs would not affect the company's "commitment to
Massachusetts or the Boston area." |

R&D is not easy to find a new job nowadays.

发帖数: 447 | 8 有经验的年纪不是很大的其实还是蛮好找的。工业界圈子不大，只要平时注意build一
些connection，很容易找到下家。我们部门去年12月份被连锅端以后，第一时间有很多
top pharma的manager/director主动联系我们的director，给提供了将近20个左右的位
置。。。像Sanofi出来的这些人互相帮个忙啥的，基本应该都能找到下家 |

而是不愿意relocate

发帖数: 1425 | 10 的确是这样，基本应该都能找到下家,所以没经验的新人很难进。不过最终消化大头的
还是小公司，大部分人估计很难找到同样薪资的地方。
