s******e 发帖数: 1985 | 6 But the survey only open to AAPS members, most of people are not AAPS
members.
Still there are tons of students and postdocs who may just ignore the survey.
I think this survey is highly biased toward the high end. They should not
published this survey result at all.

s*****l 发帖数: 1844 | 7 Let me explain this:
1) Not too many companies are willing to sponsor their employees to AAPS,
which can easily cost several thousand dollars. People who go to AAPS are
probably above average.
2) People tend to report somewhat higher income when they are doing this
type of survey.
3) This is mean, not median. In fact, this number is not surprising. Also
consider people who have been working for 20-30 years.
4) Even 150K is not much if you live in SF, Boston, NJ etc.
The problem to many people is that their positions are not secure. Once
laid off, getting a comparable position may be very tough.

Phd entry level can reach 80-90k base salary in many big phara, or even
higher. Total salary passing 100k is not so difficult.

http://www.aaps.org/publications/newsmagazine/2001/Dec01/15_sal
In conclusion, the typical AAPS
member, as portrayed by the
respondents to this survey, is a
43-year-old male holding a
Ph.D. and working in the pharmaceutical
industry with 16
years of experience. He earns a
base annual salary of $114,200
per year and enjoyed an
increase of 9.3% over his 1999
salary.
