I have been playing Minuet in G in the past 3 months. I will also play this
cello song for the upcoming recital.
I like Minuet in G because of the style and technique. For the style, It is
a fancy occasion dance music. It is different and more formal than other
songs. It feels like in courtroom with lots of gesture and nobility.
Technique wise, It uses many flats and sharps. The sharps make it a bit
unusual. It is also in the waltz 3/4, requires the player to play with
steady rhythm and consistence. I feel it is soft but not necessarily quiet.
The trio section seems exciting. The song reminds me of joy and happiness.
It tells a good story.
The song was made using the AABA format. Beethoven is the composer of it.
Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770. He started to lose
hearing at the age of 26. He premiered his first symphony in 1800. His
second was 1803. His fifth was one of the most important of his age. In 1825
, he did all nine symphonies and he died a year after that.
The other pieces I like the most about Beethoven are his Symphony 5 and
Symphony 9.
The pieces I listen to including all kinds of classic music. I went to
several of my piano teacher's concert and my cello teacher's chamber music
performance. I also go to local concert offered by the Chamber of Music. I
love to listen to all kinds of music/songs on Youtube. Here is the list of
music/songs I enjoy the most -
1. Symphony 3, 5, 6, and 9 by Beethoven - Exciting, passionate, different
expressions of joy (staccato/slur/hooked bowing in 9), sadness (
thunderstorms in 6), smooth transaction... Simply spectacular music!
2. Carnival of Animals by Saint-Saens - Funny and humorous.
I also enjoy playing on piano and cello all the popular movie songs and game
theme music, like Star Wars, Charlie and Chocolate Factory, Minecraft, and
The Descent of Dragon...
Music is so much fun and it can calm me down! |
