The Washington Post cited more than a dozen high-profile incidents involving
Yik Yak in just one week in an Oct. 7 story headlined "How do you solve a
problem like Yik Yak?"
In this past semester alone, more than a dozen universities across the
nation have experienced high-profile incidents with the app. Students from
Drake University, the University of Albany, Towson University, Pennsylvania
State University, Widener University the University of Nebraska-Kearny, The
University of Georgia and the University of Southern Mississippi have been
arrested since September in connection to threatening posts made on Yik Yak.
The Post reported: "Of all the anonymous apps and Web sites promising safe
spaces for users to spill their souls, perhaps none has proved so
consistently problematic — so apparently irredeemable — as Yik Yak, the
scourge of campuses from California to Concord, N.H." |
