There weren’t many smartphones that received even a fraction of the buzz
thatthe iPhone 6 did this year, but the OnePlus One somehow managed to
find its way on to that list. With an aggressive marketing campaign and an
air of mystery surrounding it, the CyanogenMod handset piqued the interest
of the Android community right away, but nine months later, the phone still
isn’t available to the public. Nevertheless, OnePlus doesn’t plan on
slowing down any time soon.
In a recent Reddit AMAA (Ask Me Almost Anything), Carl and David of OnePlus
answered a series of questions about the future of their company and their
upcomingproducts. When asked about whether or not Android L would make
its way on to the next OnePlus device, Carl was very direct:
“OnePlus 2 should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. By that time, I’d think
Android L would be standard. :)”
He then responded to the claim that many users found the form factor of the
phone to be too large:
“We’ve seen a lot of people asking for a smaller device, and want to let
everyone know that we hear you. We’re thinking about it.”
The OnePlus One isn’t commercially available quite yet, but OnePlus will be
launching its preorder program by the end of October in order to begin
selling phones at a more consistent rate than the invite program is capable
of allowing. |
