consumptions, not on computational power anymore. Twice in a road, new MS
OSs (Win 7 vs Vista, Win 8 vs Win 7) has a better perf on old devices. There
might be some requirements down the road for desktops and servers, but not
for portable devices. Tablets are never built for CPU heavy tasks, not even
for win 8 pro tablets.
the Acer W510 (or some other Atom win 8 pro tablets) runs metro appls very
very fine, it is hard to imagine it won't be in next few years. So it is a
good tablet already. It runs some desktop tasks (not all of them) fine, then
it already exceeds the expectation for a $400 tablet.

feel that is the concern that prevent it from selling well, but it is untrue.
There are many daily tasks that fall in between the 正事 and 非正事，and are
very important to a lot of people, but are unable to run on iPad or Android
, or not a good experience. And now, with the Atom win 8 pad, there is a
legitimate and affordable solution to that. The difference is between you
need to use your laptop from time to time at home, to you simply do NOT. I
know it matters to me, and many people that I know. I owned an ipad before.
It was so good when it runs the 80% things that it supports, but for the 20%
things it does not support, you are done. I was so tired to look for my
laptop because I wanted to print something, or I want to look at the pix in
my external hardrive, or I want to play 升级。Now the W510 does everything
that I was unable to do before, from printing, browsing regular webpages
with flashes like留园笑口，to youku, to live video soccer coverage on zhibo8
, to play chess or 升级 on QQ游戏 or 中国游戏中心, that all the tasks that
previously I needed my laptop for, it is so 爽。 Obviously the experience is
not as good as on PC, but it is definitely better than usable. Simply put,
I never used my laptop since I got it, it is unprecedent.

any other W8 pro tablet is doomed.
If anything that does not run well on the Atom win8 tablet, the bottleneck
is not on the CPU performance, it is by the size of the screen and the very
tablet unfriendly UI of Win 7 (Win 8 desktop). It is quite hard to operate
on the Win7 interface on a tablet, even with a mouse. I can hardly imagine
that any desktop apps that require more CPUs than Atom provides, will have a
good UX on a tablet. You buy it, as a tablet, not as a laptop. If you
really care about that, buy a touchscreen ultrabook like yoga.

Atom pads, but on the cost of almost double price, and significantly shorter

1) once docked can serve as a reasonable terminal (to remote desktopm while
running some local browser tabs, etc).
2) without dock can still run well mail clients / long PDF / onenote
3) not heavy (W510 seems a good shot)
Not sure Atom is sufficient for all these ?
Besides, if W510 is sold at BB, that would be optimal (easy to return if it
doesn't work out well.)

dock. Or you can buy third party keyboard. For your concern 1, actually I
have seen quite some people using even surface RT with keyboard to achieve
that pretty well.
Regarding return policy, I think Microsoft store is very good. And their
Microsoft complete service is also worth of the value (pay some premium and
get 3 years warranty, including upgrading to another one (anything for the
same value, or you pay the difference) within 3 years.

程序也没几个是给平板设计的，点起来麻烦死。想配个dock keyboard还死贵，还到处

笔记本要13寸以上用起来才舒服，再小点就只适合看看视频上上网，这样的话随便哪个
类似价位的平板都比这个强。所以说来说去还是当笔记本用不如笔记本，当平板用不如

如果20%的时间需要用一下x86程序，就为了这20%选了个鸡肋板，可以说是因小失大

is better on a laptop + an ipad. actually, the experince is optimal if you
have a super desktop+laptop+ipad+ipad mini, and you do specific things on
specific device. this is an exaggerate example of the two directions. i know
there is people who wants better experience. and i also know there is a lot
people like me, for a lot of reasons like convinience, cost. thats why
people had so much hype for surface pro. but as things turns out, surface
pro might disappoint them. but w510 probably won't. the experince is indeed
better than most people expected, including me. w510 is probably the first
viable solution for people like me

不爽。所以我一直建议有机会的话，买之前亲自去试试。
