The Internet backhaul goes from the plane to towers on the ground to create
an air-to-ground (ATG) connection. Aircell spent $31.3 million in June 2006
to get the rights to the 850-MHz spectrum that allows these long-distance, h
igh-speed cellular connections, which are actually based on the 3G technolog
y EV-DO Rev A, just like what Verizon and Sprint use for 3G. (But that doesn
't mean it works with your 3G phone. It doesn't.) The 850-MHz band is the sa
me frequency used by the well-established, but seldom used, AirFone service
operated by Verizon.
【在 y****i 的大作中提到】 : 是通过卫星链接地面站点么? 那么带宽会很有限吧?
