no need to repurchase, really. the airline should have assigned your parents
to the next flight when available (each flight has a couple of reserved
seats for situations like this). all you need to pay is the extra cost for
lodging during the wait.
hopefully the newly purchased ticket is not for round-trip, otherwise you
may have to go through the refund/credit troubles.

航班啊！而且我个人亲历是不需要交任何费用的（美国国内航班）。
