SAN JOSE -- A baby girl four days shy of her first birthday was safely
rescued after being snatched from her East San Jose driveway Monday when a
stranger took off with the family car with the child still inside, police
said.
The kidnapping touched off a gripping morning manhunt throughout the South
Bay marked by a heavy deployment of San Jose police officers that ended when
11-month-old Gabriella Quintero was found in the SUV, which had been
abandoned across town in the alleyway of an apartment complex near Andrew
Hill High School.
Officer Albert Morales said the child was crying when found and appeared to
be healthy. She was evaluated at Valley Medical Center where she was
reunited with her mother |
