I. Gear
1. Car seat:
这是生娃要准备的第一件东西. 没有婴儿床, 可以和大人挤, 看他爹还敢跟偶们抢地盘
? 没有尿布, 可以扯件他爹的T-shirt凑合; 没有衣服, 咱可以光着么, 反正大夏天的,
这才清爽. 但是没有car seat, 你都出不了院. 抱着娃坐汽车, 是犯法地, 要被抓进
去地, 严重了还要剥夺你监护权地.
Car seat的学问大大地, 比如说, 种类就好几种: infant car seat, convertible car
seat, booster等. Infant car seat 是带个手柄的篮子那种, 车里装个固定的car
seat base,小宝坐这个这个篮子里可以拎下来逛街买菜下馆子回家不耽误,还不打扰他
觉觉. 这种car seat是 rear-facing的, 就是宝坐在里面, 脸朝车后窗的. 这种car
seat仅限小宝轻于20磅并且短于26英寸的时候使用. 超重或超长了的宝呢,如果还不到1
岁,就需要convertible car seat了. 咋个convertible法呢,就是小宝不满足1) 1岁以
上; 2) 20 lb以上 (尽管不是法律规定, 但现在安全建议一直到35磅都脸儿朝后坐); 3
) 26 in以上 任何一个条件的时候, 使用它rear-facing的模式, 仨条件都满足了, 才
能换forward-facing: 终于可以脸儿朝前展望未来了! 展望到40磅的时候, 或者小宝长
得足够高了, 再把convertible car seat换成booster, 如此一直到孩儿长到80磅或6岁
以上.
除了这三种基本类型, car seat还有很多细节的指标. 比如是5点harness的, 还是3点
的; 带子们不同调节方式的; 用不用latch system的; 各种不同fabric的; 大大小小各
种size的; 头部支撑感觉不同的, 五花八门. 当然最重要的, 是安全性能. 一般说来5
点harness的, 比3点的安全; latch的是新车们普遍匹配的.
经过一番research, 比较consumer report给市面上car seats的排队, 看厂家安全性报
告和recall记录, 以及amazon上买主们的review之后, 我买了一个infant car seat,
一个 convertible的 (其实这个晚些买也不迟).
Infant car seat: Graco SnugRide (买它的原因是安全性不错, 主要是非常轻, 我拎
得动tongue.gif)
Convertible: Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 (买它的原因是BBS上有人推荐, 有sale,所

2. Stroller:
就是小娃推车. Stroller的种类那比car seat又多了去了: 什么travel system呀,
jogger呀, umbrella stroller呀等等等等. 指标包括: 重量(你得经常搬上搬下不是),
折叠大小 (小车trunk里装不下咋办?), 折叠简易性 (有时候不得一手抱宝, 一手折叠
装车么), 安全性 (不能推着推着散架吧), 轮子灵活性 (有的一手推着不好拐弯据说),
抗震性能 (好些大城市地面可不敢恭维呀, 扭腰为例),遮阳蓬实用性 (有的就是个摆
设据说), 设计方便性 (小人儿的cup holder, 大人的cup holder, 什么手机兜, 钥匙
兜之类的有没有, 购物筐够不够大, 小人儿躺着的时候购物筐打不打得开等等等等).
如果想坐新生小宝宝, 最重要的指标是, 座位能不能fully recline (就是能不能完全
放平),因为新宝宝脑袋还支不住不是. Umbrella stroller吧比如, 就是专门给大孩子
用的, 因为小人儿只能坐在里面, 没躺着的模式.
Travel system其实是一个stroller加一个配套的infant car seat. Infant car seat
可以直接卡在stroller上, 这样从车上到stroller, 不用折腾小宝宝, 直接拎下来一扣
就可以推着遛了. 宝大点儿了, infant car seat乘不下了, stroller又可以单独用.
也有更简单的, 就是自己本身不是stroller, 只能架infant car seat的. 好些城里人
兴买这个, 说宝宝大到不能坐infant car seat之后, 再换正经的stroller.
俺的research, 主要考虑了重量(我弱我承认), 折叠大小(mini cooper能装的
, 就两种), 和reviews, 买了Graco 的Metrolite travel system, 前面提到的那个
snugride car seat, 其实是包括在这个 travel system里面的. [$199 from

"Consumer Report"上overall score最高分的"traditional strollers"是Peg
Perego Aria,很轻,只有11磅重,价格是$199左右,是我的首选.Peg Perego Pliko P3有
15磅重,也比Peg Perego Aria宽大些. "Consumer Report"上overall score最高分的"
infant car seat"是Graco SnugRide,只有9磅重.Peg Perego Primo Viaggio排第二,但
是比较重,有15磅重.我买的是Graco SnugRide,再加一个Snap 'N Go.

Peg Pérego Pliko Trek SNG,$260
A high price for below-average convenience. Stands folded. Handle height
adjustable. But two-handed folding harder than most. Harder to mount car
seat than most. Five-point harness tricky to engage/disengage. Carrying
handle. Folded size: medium. 18 lb. Use with: Peg Pérego Primo Viaggio car
seat.
Instep Saturn SS150,$100
Off-road model that's less convenient than most. Unstable when back wheels
are lifted. Five-point harness can trap child's fingers. Stands, rolls
folded. Inflatable tires, but includes no pump or gauge. Needs some assembly
. Has car-seat mounting adapter. Folded size: large. 22 lb. Use with: Graco
SnugRide, Century Avanta, Evenflo On My Way car seats.
NOT CAR-SEAT COMPATIBLE
Maclaren Techno X322 Techno XT,$290
An excellent stroller--at a high price. But sideways-controlled brakes can't
be operated with bare feet or with soft-soled shoes. Five-point harness can
trap child's fingers. Rolls folded, but does not stand folded. Folded size:
medium. 14 lb.
Kolcraft GS Cruiser 46843,$50
Well-priced, capable model. One-hand folding better than most. Stands, rolls
folded. Front swivel wheels don't lock. Needs some assembly. Large basket.
Folded size: medium. 18 lb.
Combi Travel Savvy 2120,$85
Very good, light choice for small car trunks. But wobbly, too-soft
suspension. Swivel wheels can lock when descending curbs--a minus. Canopy

Graco 的东西很好也很popular,偏好peg perego (or combi, inglesina, maclaren,
etc)的人主要是因为欧洲or日本牌子的stroller比较轻巧，且容易handle。combi
ultra savvy 甚至可以单肩背在身上,而inglesina是惟一可以用单手就collapse的
model. 但如果你不care 这些feature or carrying extra weight,Graco 没有什么不
好的。这跟买车一样，全看个人须要和喜好。
我得到的讯息(from the book "baby bargain") 是peg perego stroller 只能work
with peg perego carseat,也许错了，但我还是买了peg perego primo viaggio 以防
万一。
又做了一些research. 我现在也比较倾向于peg perego 或者 maclaren。主要是我们在
城里，据说推车要买结识一点的。发现我真能败家，看到好的，就放不下。：)

这个就是你们说的比较轻便的伞车吗？是不是不能放carseat?这个怎么区分阿？都叫
stroller。
决定肯定要买一个Graco Snugride carseat。但是哪个stroller还不定。比较了一下买
perego和Maclaren的优缺点：买perego可以和那个carseat匹配，但是太贵。买
Maclaren，可能不能和那个carseat匹配，那有必要给Graco Snugride单买一个Snap'
nGo?

I have graco quattro tour stroller and a baby >20lb. I walk him in the
stroller almost every day. Don't have any steering problem at all. Other
ones might work better. But I think this one is already good enough.
graco 的 mosaic 和metrolite的review还是很好的,它家的quattro 真是way too
heavy了.
我们买了个Inglesina,贵的很,sale的情况下$229, 原价好象是300多
我们家主要是两个人没法统一,我想要轻巧,扶手低点的.LD一定要个sturdy的.所以
graco metro的LD觉得不够结实,quttro的我觉得太笨重.最后只好over budget买了个贵
的.推起来好象是不错,也蛮轻的(好象是15lb),就是下面放东西的地方好象特别小,还有
好象不是fully reclined(有个角度).不过和我们买的graco safeseat是compatible的.
我们曾经有个graco metrolite. $80. 当然应该能更便宜。当初我也是看了不少
review买的。推出去遛弯还行（我们住一层）在店里逛就很费劲了（我弱，我知道）。
买菜的时候是不能带的，否则后备箱就没有放菜的地方了.
因为要上飞机，咬牙换了volo，好推多了，也轻，折起来特小。就是不太好睡觉 不过
她也在里面睡过好几次了。
maclaren volo很多人夸啊, 准备下次有deal买一个。轻便的也有很多可以放平睡得，
象zippy p3, techno...
看到很多姐妹说想买， 我刚买了一个。 babyrus.com现在有20$off, total is $107.
77 after shipping & tax. 我觉得还不错，因为research了一段时间，所有的店最低
也就是109。好像比较难有deal。有的网站上有04或05版的，会便宜一点。想买的赶快
，因为好像这个promotion要结束了。
忘了说了，albeebaby上红的和柠檬色的$98.99, free shipping for order over $100
, 所以可以加个小玩具。我喜欢兰的，没discount.
volo只有8.4 lb重, techno多重?我要考虑在重量和能睡之间平衡一下下.
3. Rear view infant mirror:
不是小宝1岁前都脸儿朝后坐在车后座上么 (刚才忘了提了, 小娃坐前座也是违法的,
有car seat也不行), 大人前面开车看不见怎办? 后面安这个镜子, 时刻观察小宝动静.
俺们还没买呢, 计划的是一个带夜光小灯的镜子, 晚上行车也看得见. [~$20 from

4. Baby carrier:
其实这个可能不算在gear里面. 凑合放这儿吧. 就是捆在身上的那种背兜儿, 小宝放里
面, 大人不用抱着, 两只手解放出来, 可以该干吗干吗. 也种类繁多, 前背的, 后背的
, 软的硬的, 斜的竖的, 不一而足.
俺们现在不打算买, 也许以后带娃去hiking有用, 以后再说吧, 先省下~$70. | w****m

就是婴儿配方奶粉了. 因为一直决定母乳喂养，这个research作得最少. 只知道好几种
畅销品牌，比如similac，Enfamil，nestle，gerber，etc. 其实各种牌子，差别应该
不大，都是按指标配出来的么. 每种牌子还有不同的细类. 可能还分不同的stage，给
年龄不一的小宝吃.
奶粉先不买呢. 去它们厂家的网站注册，会收到样品. 医院应该也有样品. 够用一阵子
了. Research我以后用得着再作吧. 现在能懒一点是一点拉.
不过记得从哪儿看来过一条有用信息，说是一个宝宝本来喝similac的，后来便秘拉，
换Enfamil就好了. 所以我暂时倾向Enfamil现在.
VI．Diapers and related:
1．Diapers:
纸尿裤是也. 不同大小的宝宝用不同size的尿裤: newborn，1，1-2，3，4,…每种尿裤
都标明了适用于多重的宝宝. Newborn的是给刚出生的宝宝用的,比别的size都贵.一般
医院会送一些.然后看不同宝宝的长势需要几十到100多片不等. 尽管1号的也可以给新
生宝宝用，但据说腰比较高，容易碰到宝宝没掉落的脐带. 还是newborn的设计好一些.
市面上很多diaper牌子，最popular的是Huggies和Pampers. 据BBS上多人汇报，对小小
的宝宝来说，Pampers Swaddler系列比Huggies要好,服贴不侧漏. 到4号以上的diapers
，Huggies (supreme) 和Pampers (cruisers)就差不多了. 甚至有人更偏爱Huggies.
俺现在只准备了Pampers Swaddler 的newborn，1-2，和2号各一箱，还是跳了一个
Amazon的deal买的. 万一不够的话，随时再加就好. 现在几大箱尿布已经展览在客厅中
央，就算是行为艺术，也没地方多摆了. $99 from Amazon.
2．Baby Wipes:
换尿布的时候给宝宝擦拭的湿纸巾. 据说每次宝宝poo poo都要至少用掉4～5张，pee
pee 2～3张，所以一包7,80片的Wipe一个星期就用完.
如果担心Wipe对宝宝的皮肤有刺激，就买那种HYPOALLERGIC的，不带香味和添加剂
. Pampers sensitive 和Target store brand 就不错.

3．Baby wipe warmer:
冬天的时候，用凉纸巾给宝宝擦PP多难受，所以就有这个加热器.
不过这个太纨绔了. 俺就决定用温水把wipe蘸热就好.
4．Diaper rash cream:
防治红PP的.每次换尿布后涂一点，宝宝就不会红PP拉!
也有超多牌子和种类. 我们楼下小卖店就一大排呢. 到时候随手抄一个就好.
不过有人推荐了Mustela cold cream $11 from babycenter.com，算是比较高级的牌子.
5．Diaper champ/ diaper genie:
专门扔diapers的垃圾筒. 里面的结构是很独特的紧口设计，不会散味儿.
这个也好象属于奢侈品. 我不决定买. 万一我家味儿实在太大再说，不过我自己待久了
可能闻不出来，需要友情提醒，哈哈哈哈.

6．Diaper Bag:
带小宝出门的时候放diapers的. Fancy吧，专门放尿布的包包也! 还都贼贵! 而且一些
designer的包包品牌都carry diaper bag的!
嗯，据说有的医院送奶粉样品的时候附一个diaper bag，那我就省钱用免费的吧.
寒酸是寒酸了点，可是，让我用coach的diaper bag，除非我抽风了. 我这么臭美的,自
己还从没有个coach包包呐.
7．Pee-pee Teepee:
嘿嘿，很多已经作了妈妈的(尤其是女宝宝的妈妈)，可能都不知道这是个什么东东.我
有一次逛孕妇店的时候，看见这个. 一小包5个棉绒质地的三角帽. 帽帽大小也就套个
大拇指的样子. 干什么的呐? 人家包装上也没详细的介绍，只说: “ For the
sprinkling wee-wee”.
我冰雪聪明的(咳咳)，就想起来BBS上一个男宝宝的妈妈曾抱怨,说不换尿布的时候
，她家宝宝也想不起来pee pee，每次一换尿布，刚刚打开，小家伙就来劲了，美美地
往妈妈脸上滋一个小喷泉.
哈哈，原来，原来，这根本不是个案，普遍得狠叻.
俺纯粹本着好玩儿的心理买了一包 ($10 from Motherhood),用法是，换尿布的时候套在
宝宝weewee上.

VII．Baby Care and Health:
1．Bath Tub:
宝宝澡盆. 宝宝一般脐带脱落之前只能擦澡，掉了之后就可以洗澡了. Bath tub从两个
星期大开始用，买个能放在厨房或浴室sink里的最方便. 一是大人不用弯腰弓身，二是
可以大大地省水.
我看上两个: Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn-to-Toddler Tub，$16.99 fromTarget.
和Safety 1st Comfy Duck Bath Center，$14.99 from Target. 两个其实很象，都有
个附加的sling挂在塑料盆里，刚出生的宝宝就可以稳稳地躺在里面。区别是第一个长
相普通，但能用到一两岁，第二个设计cute一点，就是只能用到半岁左右。哎，我既看
重长相又兼顾功能，决定不下呢~
还据说Eurobath非常好，所以可以先买个用到几个月的，再换Eurobath?
2．Bath Towel:
同事送了一个，还带小帽子的. 其实这个是奢侈品，用大人的都可以.
3．Bath toys:
泡水里玩的小鸭子小鱼小青蛙小海星小….们. 小小宝肯定还玩不了. 这个不买!
4．Shower gel and shampoo:
现在市面上的baby洗发洗浴品好多. 据说大部分也就是打着baby名号多条产品line的市
场手段而已. 最常见的强生据说就是这样，没什么特别的. Mustela是个不错的牌子，
但是比较贵. Drugstore的牌子我倾向于Aveeno Baby. 因为大人的浴液，Aveeno的就比
别家的柔和很多，想宝宝的应该也差不了. 这个还没买，有些免费样品呢. 用完之后到
楼下小店买就好了.
5．Shaver:
给宝宝剃头用. 没买，用我的Venus试试，或者用LG的电动剃须刀?
6．Cotton swabs:
给新生儿脐带擦酒精用的. 不打算格外买，就用我的Qtips不好么.
7．Baby Nail clipper:
据说有的宝宝刚生下来就有长指甲了，这个得在出生前买好，去住院时就带着. 肯定俺
应该比大人的小些. 买了一个. Parents magazine牌的长手柄baby nail clipper，$2
from Target.
8．Baby comb and brush:
小梳子. 哈哈，男宝用不着吧. 他爹都从来不梳头! 其实朋友送了一个
9．Baby Thermometer:
这个很必要. 时刻关注宝宝体温. 大家都推荐测耳朵的几款.尤其是一个叫Braun牌的.
$30～40 from Target or Walmart.
10．Nasal Aspirator:
从宝宝鼻子里吸羊水呀鼻涕什么的. 买了个parents magazine 牌子的，尖口处是透明
的，可以看到里面有什么，还可以拆下来清洗. $3 from Target.

快了快了，马上完了. 后面这几个我research其实作得不完善，简单列一下吧.
VIII．Play things:
1．Toys:
同事送了几件了. 其实宝宝小的时候还什么都不会玩儿呢. 现在买多了也没用. 还不如
等他两,三个月了推到Mall里去看小人儿的反应自己挑呢. 另外玩具这个东西学问太大
了，不仅分年龄，还分门别类启发各方面智力的. 每年还有个什么组织评选出适合不同
年龄的最佳玩具一二三等. 反正我的research，是要坚持不懈地作下去了.
哦，我检讨，我昨天在BabiesRus看见一只很可爱的小狮子plush toy 在clearance，忍
不住买拉! 俺们宝宝是狮子座的哎! 打算放在他的Bassinet里，软软的还防撞 :P.
2．Mobile:
这个好象重复了，前面提到crib的时候就讲过，挂在床上的转转乐，还会放音乐。其实
不只可以挂床上，car seat上，stroller上都可以挂，宝宝无聊的时候给他转一转，唱
一唱，起个安抚作用。所以要买那种方便拆卸的。
俺不买，因为相中的Bassinet上带的那个就可以拆。
3．Play yards:
四面围起来的游乐小床。上面挂各种玩具，小宝在里面被保护得好好的，自己玩儿，可
以让大人腾出空来干点儿别的。没买，等宝大些才舍得放羊。
4．Play gym:
类似的东东，不过底下就是个五颜六色的大软垫子，上面支些五颜六色的玩具，再加点
音乐功能。新生宝宝就可以放上面自己躺着看拉，再大点儿了还可以上手抓。按说这个
有用，不占地方，放大人床上就行，还在考虑要不要现在就买中。
5．Play mats:
就是那种泡沫塑料之类的材料作成的一方块儿一方块儿拼起来的地毯，方块儿可能还有
个字母呀动物呀什么的可以扣出来再安上去，小宝在上面摸爬滚打不怕摔，也益智。这
个，会爬之后再说吧。
6．Rattles and teethers:
Rattles应该就跟咱们波浪鼓啊，小铃铛啊之类的差不多，宝宝自己弄响声的玩具。
Teethers，顾名思义，用来上嘴啃的。
也再缓缓吧。我怎么概念里觉得新生小宝就是个吃了睡，睡了吃的小傻子，这么多花样
儿，怕是娱乐大人自己为多，他玩得过来么？
7．Books and videos:
这边儿的医生讲究从刚出生就给宝宝念书听。听得懂听不懂不管，这样有助于父母跟宝
宝的bonding和锻炼宝宝的注意力据说。
那，俺们是给他从小念英文书呐，还是从国内搞点中文故事图画书识字卡片什么的？一
开始，应该弄咱自己的好吧！
Video的事儿，我不想让宝宝太小就看。尽管这边什么Baby Einstein的系列DVD炒得乌
央乌央的，我觉得等宝宝大点再考虑。
8．Bouncer and Swing:
Bouncer 是个架起来的,软布垫儿作的小娃座椅，用电池，可以不同频率和强度地振动
。Swing更大一些，就是婴儿可以坐的室内秋千。这两样据说是在小娃闹的时候安慰他
的绝好工具，省了大人抱着晃悠了，要说科技发达了就是好啊！
同事送了个Bouncer，家里空间已经一寸一寸被安排掉了，这个至今还没想到能支在哪
儿呢。至于Swing么，只好等宝宝几个月之后我回德州大屋再添置吧。
为什么我决定了这俩是必要的，要添置呐？因为我书呆子来着。怀孕了之后自己的学术
书籍一本没看，倒是啃完了一本大部头的婴儿神经发育学巨著。书上说了，小宝宝出生
后，为什么喜欢被晃悠，喜欢睡摇篮，坐秋千呐？原来是某种神经的发育需要的（至于
是哪种神经，我不知道。英文原著啊，全是神经学专业词儿，我没时间查字典细扣了，
知道是某种神经一知半解就不错了，我容易么我！）书上还说拉，有些小娃因为得不到
足够的晃悠，自己咣咣咣用脑袋撞墙的事儿都不少见。而且这还绝对是健康的。有趣吧
。所以我要给我们宝宝买会晃悠的bassinet，准备会振动的bouncer，省得人家自己撞
墙去~~

1．Haier portable washer:
就是海尔的小小神童洗衣机拉！小娃的衣物一来换得勤，二来用公用的大洗衣房总会担
心不够干净。所以干脆搞了一个这个。勉强塞进浴室了，胖子进不了我家浴室现在:P.
不过用了几次以后发现漏水，头疼中:(((

2．Thermal Cooking Pot:
慢烧锅，产后堡汤好帮手。但一般的老美慢烧锅不好，炖出的汤味道不好，大夏天得长
时间热着还很不爽。版上的irix推荐过一种日本的焖锅，据说开了之后就断电，全靠完
全绝缘的锅体把汤作好，炖肉，煮粥方便，味道还好。可是死贵。Amazon上打折呢，还
一百刀。恶毒的日本商人！哼！先不买呢。
3．Parenting books:
第一个娃，照书养.
一个未婚女同事居然送了本怎么对付toddler的书，显然没有经验么。
对于infant，大家普遍推荐 What to expect in the first year。据说就象个养娃圣
经，什么问题都有答案。还有本教你识别宝宝发出不同声音的含义的，忘了书名儿了(
大概是the baby whisperer什么的)。另外我还打算买本 first year的养娃journal，
随时记录宝宝吃喝拉撒的细节，from Babycenter.com 和 BabiesRus。
嘿嘿，我就将书呆子进行到底吧。
我再罗索一次。和尚服也就前几天脐带上还带着大夹子的时候有用，穿医院里的。
然后买gerber的一包5件的那种最合适。0～3虽然不要买多，2件我觉得还是少了，除非
你时时刻刻都能洗衣服，有时候吐奶阿尿片漏了阿都是要马上换衣服的，diaper bag里
面也应该有备用衣服。其实后面6～9现在可以暂时不考虑，除非有大deal，各个宝宝不
同，到时候看着买最合适。
我的CRIB是在IKEA买的，当时没经验，觉得设计简洁清爽，直到最近，宝宝大了，发现
床栏杆不能升降，每次把宝宝捞出来都费大力气了，而且我的宝宝重达32磅，腰都快断
了。提醒大家千万别犯我的错，一定要买一边栏杆可以升降的。那个升降功能太重要了
，否则海底捞针不是一般的功夫活。
另外一件后悔的事是没买摇椅，当时觉得太贵，又占地方，后来有次去朋友家坐在她的
摇椅上喂奶，那个舒服啊！！！觉得宝宝用品里STROLLER 和 ROCKING CHAIR对妈妈特
别重要。别省那个钱啊，要对自己好一点。
Stroller：我比较厌恶travel system，实在是大而笨重。尤其是住在大城市，常需要
上下地铁、bus的妈妈，travel system尤其不适合。那体积和重量不是一个人能扛动的
。stroller 我很喜欢maclaren和Chicco London。
基本上所有的crib都是可以convert to toddler bed的。所以有时候看见有准妈妈问
ikea的crib看着也挺好，3-in-1等等。其实孩子稍大一点，都不愿意睡crib convert的
床了，他们更喜欢一张twin size的床，有长大成人的感觉。爸爸或妈妈也能在夜晚临
睡时，躺在宝宝的边上给他/她讲故事，聊天。所以crib的选择要点主要是：1．一侧能
上下拉动。（有一种是插销把crib的一边降低的，安全性不好，不推荐）2．床下最好
是弹簧网支撑mattess的，孩子一、两岁的时候，喜欢在床上蹦跳，弹簧网比木板好一
些。3．床下最好有抽屉，充分利用空间。
小宝宝小的时候很容易就在车里睡着了，如果不是infant car seat，车停了，就要把
她捞出来，很容易就把它们弄醒了，自然就不高兴。Infant car seat 可以拎上拎下的
，不会打搅他们的睡觉。这一点我喜欢。缺点就是太重。我反正是拎不懂得。如果出门
都有劳工陪着，有劳动力，就没问题。不过，对travel system 还是喜欢不起来。太重
太重了。我都搬不到车的后箱里。如果我有老二，我会买个snap and go，反正就用几
次。

我也觉得这款很不错呢，而且可以用graco snugride infant car seat。peg perego
自己的infant car seat review 好像不怎么样，考虑到要比graco的贵差不多$200，也
用不了６个月，我比较倾向于买这个Plico P3 stroller ＋ Graco Snugride。你觉得
这个组合如何？Graco的那个infant car seat 很多人抱怨太热，不过我的是winter
baby，倒是正好。
如果这样子的话，我是不是可以不急着买Maclaren Volvo之类的？45lbs大概可以坐到
多大？
如果graco snugride infant car seat能放进stroller，这个组合很好。你可以去店店
试试，看稳不稳。
你不需要急着买Maclaren Volvo。 Volvo至少要一岁才用。
Plico P3 stroller 可以用到孩子很大，非常值得的投资。如果你需要一个更轻便的伞
车，推荐Volo。
我理解新妈妈的心情，恨不得什么好的都给宝宝，商家就是利用这些心理，才有那么多
的婴儿用品。
我劝你先别着急，把必备的买了，其他的，到时候根据具体需要再买。这一样，那一样
，钱就花出去了。bassinet对你的头三个月没什么太大帮助，pack&play也没有，你把
钱省下来，请个保姆或钟点工来照顾照顾你，让你每天多睡一会，对你的帮助才是最最
最实在的。
你休息好了，宝宝才能得到更好的照顾。这些，对新妈妈，新宝宝才是最重要的。
买stroller还要注意一点，从来没有人题。就是如果孩子大了，有一个社交圈了，你的
stroller不要太差。这话不知道会不会被人砸，小人的世界也是江湖啊，也是江湖啊。
没有一层层地考古，好像就是讨论car seat & stroller，是这样吧？我们买了三样东
东到目前。开始是Graco的travel system，用着觉得挺方便的，尤其是宝宝小时候。到
宝宝六个月，坐infant carseat就比较挤也短（我家的宝宝比较壮壮哈\"图片点击可在
新窗口打开查看\"），就换Eddie Bauer convertible car seat，但是Graco travel
system的stroller还在用。再后来，发现因为宝宝已经会坐了，坐在travel system的
stroller她也爱直直地坐着不向后靠，可能是因为那个stroller座位长后靠角度大。这
样一推起来晃，所以宝宝的小手总是紧紧地抓住前面的横杆保持平衡，不舒服。于是我
们就又买了Chicco lightweight C5 stroller，每天晚上出去玩时用很方便，宝宝坐着
也很惬意。所有花费算下来$150+$170+$90，不知道以后是否还要填其它的，觉得应该
是够了。
其实babies R us里，travel system有两个区，一个是普通较重型号，一个就是轻便型
号。我买的 combi travel system 的stroller只有12磅，可以方平，用到45磅，领起
来比家里的伞车都轻啊。只是我觉得 infant car seat较重，但是我朋友说比她的要轻
很多了，这个car seat 单买也要130，虽然是06年的model连head support都没有，要
单买。之前也犹豫宝宝冬天出生，我爸妈也在家帮忙，宝宝出门机会不多。要不要直接
britax，被周围的妈妈们批评太激进，说要慢慢过渡。而且周围的宝宝都是在8个月左
右换的car seat。想想只要宝宝舒服，我自己就少买东西好了!!!!!

I．Nursing/Feeding
1．Breast Pump——I bought the Avent Isis Manual Pump at first, which is
shown in the picture below. If you won’t be away from your baby and the
pump is just for breast engorgement, it’ll be fine. But if you will be
traveling or working, this is not as powerful as Medela electronic ones. I
bought Medela pump in style traveler later. It’s very convenient and I’ve
never used the Avent one since. So if you are sure you will be away from
your baby, I suggest you invest in a Medela at the very beginning. It has
manual feature, any way.
Breast pump是非常非常有用的东西，在刚开始奶水还不足的时候需要用pump帮助吸奶
，在后来开始上班的时候也需要为宝宝准备食物，但不一定要买，我觉得。
如果你需要出去上班，一定要一个电动的，手动的太累。有很多地方都可以租，一般只
要有医生的处方，保险会管的。我们从WIC （Women, Infant and Children） program
免费借了一个月，是Medela 电动的，其实半个月后基本上奶水就已经很足，不再需要
了。后来朋友送给我们一个同样的，现在正在用。
2．Nursing Pillow——Extremely helpful in the first couple of months, when
baby is really small.
非常非常有用，在开始的一个月里是我们认为准备的最值得的东西。因为是C-section
，所以刚开始的时候只能用football的姿势，boopy pillow起了很大的帮助作用。后来
还可以作为宝宝 tummy time时的玩具。
3．Bottles and Newborn Nipples—— If you are planning breast feeding, this
is not very important. However, if you will be away from your baby, you’d
better start try bottle-feeding around 4-6 weeks. After that, it’s
relatively hard for baby to accept a bottle. Also notice that when you buy
Avent product like Isis pump, there will be bottles in the package (We didn
’t buy any before Amy was born). In addition, some babies are really picky
about bottle, so you might need to try different brands.
我们用的是Dr. Brown的奶瓶。可以有效防止空气进入，拍起嗝来轻松一些。就是洗起
来稍微麻烦一点。
4．Nursing Bras——Extremely helpful if you are planning breast feeding. Buy
at least one size and one cup bigger. For example, if you are 32A before
pregnancy, you might need 34B or 34C or even bigger. You can buy a couple of
them before giving birth and buy more when you are sure about your size.
The ones at motherhood.com are not bad.

5．Nursing Pads——I find disposable ones (I like Gerber contour for medium
and heavy flow) very useful in the first couple of months when my milk
supply is more than enough. Since the leaking was really severe, using
washable ones still gave me wet shirts. Later on when the leakage is not a
big concern, the washable ones are fine.
我喜欢Lansinoh的disposable pad. 每一片有单独包装，更重要的是不起毛。用过
garber和johnson的，不喜欢。
6．Breast cream——Extremely helpful for the first couple of weeks. Your
nurse might recommend some brand. I find Lansinoh very good.
Lansinoh is very good for me too.
7．Burping cloths——Never had any. Some find them useful, though. I just
let Amy spit on me. : p.
我们有两块，主要是来客人的时候垫在客人肩上（如果他们想抱抱宝宝的话）
8．Bottle Warmer——Never had any.
买过一个，觉得用处不大。我们是用电水壶里面的水加热奶瓶。（记得绝对不要用微波
炉）
PS：现在觉得还是很有用的。不过你要是从小训练她吃凉的问题也可以。
9．Bottle Sterilizer——Avent Express Microwave Steam Sterilizer is very
convenient. I’d call it a “must-have”. And in the package there are 4
bottles.
我们有一个上面这样的，是especially for baby牌子的，现在其实很少用。还是用开
水煮的比较放心。
10．Bottle Drying Rack——Never had any.
没有。
11．Bottle Brush——1 should be enough. I bought mine at wal-mart.
Same here.
12．Pacifiers——Different babies have different preference. Amy likes the
Avent ones. I guess it’s because she uses Avent bottle and nipples. I didn
’t give it to her until she was 1 month old to avoid nipple confusion. And
she quit using it when she was 4 months old. She just didn’t like it any
more. Some babies keep sucking on it till 3 years old. If you are afraid
your babies gonna be like that, just don’t offer them any. So basically I
suggest you hold off such things after your baby is born. The hospital will
give you one for free any way.
从来没有用过，我总觉得用pacifier不是太好，我挺不喜欢好几岁的小孩还含一个
pacifier。不过这样的结果是有时候宝宝拿我自己当pacifier, sleepy 我觉得这个看
个人的喜好。
13．Rattle and Teether——Amy started to notice such things when she was 2
or 3 months. So again, you don’t need to pile up stock on this. But I
couldn’t resist buying them before Amy was born. So it’s up to you.
Same here.
II．Baby Care
1．Baby Thermometer——Don’t use the mercury ones. They are considered not
safe. Buy a digital one which can be used rectally because that’s the most
accurate way for newborns. I don’t think brand matters. I bought mine at
Wal-mart.

2．Baby Nail Scissor, Brush——I cut Amy’s nails when she was 2 days old.
You can certainly use the ones you use for yourself. But I feel they are way
too big. There are a lot of other accessories. But we only have these two
and find it enough so far.
我们买的是一个小包，里面有指甲刀、梳子。
3．Nasal Aspirator——very useful for us.
非常非常有用。刚开始的时候有一天宝宝哭了很久，最后才发现是鼻子堵住了。从此知
道宝宝哭除了饿和尿布湿了还有鼻子堵住了这种原因。
4．Room Thermometer——very useful for us, you might want one of those
meters that can tell humidity, too. Adults are not as sensitive as newborns.
Some time you feel comfortable while they don’t. So these meters can help.
需要，不需要把房间的温度弄得太高，只要你自己感觉舒服就可以了。我觉得小孩冷一
点比热一点好，我们经常把宝宝脱光了让她在床上爬来爬去。
5．Diaper Pail——Never had any.
没有。
Bath
6．Bath Tub——We bought ours at IKEA, which is the first one below. It’s
not as fancy as the second one, which is for new born. But we use a certain
bath rack from wal-mart in it and it worked fine. Later when Amy is bigger
we take the rack out and it’s much bigger.
总之是需要一个的，现在刚刚开始不用澡盆，直接让她坐在浴缸里玩水了。
7．Bath Towel——They are cute. But actually our normal bath towel works,
too.
Same here.
8．Soft Washcloths——We bought about a dozen. It’s more than enough.
Same here.
9．Bath Toy——We bought a couple, again, just because they are cute. But up
until now, 6 months, Amy still doesn’t pay much attention to them.
现在（七个月）开始玩了。
10．Bath Water Thermometer——We have one, never used it. Maybe for the
first couple of baths you’d need it to avoid freaking out yourself. But
generally you can just feel it to know.

11．Toiletries
We bought a package of these things, including shampoo, wash, and lotion.
There are some other fancy stuffs；like baby oil, rubbing alcohol, sun block
. We don’t have them, and never need them. Recently Amy had eczema. And our
ped said J&J is not very good. She said the only thing special about baby
toiletries is that they are marketed for babies. She recommended a couple of
brands, including Dove and Nivea, which I am using. So I don’t think you
need to buy these things special for your baby.
基本上我们只用清水给她洗澡。刚开始是有全套东西的，后来发现她可能会过敏，身上
起红斑，所以就不用了。
shampoo johnsohn的好像不是很好，头发发黄。Aveeno好一点。
12．Mild soap for laundry——We just wash Amy’s clothes together with ours,
so never have this.
有一桶Draft的，不过也许不用也可以。
13．Cotton swabs Cotton Balls——Before Amy was 1 month old, we use this and
water to clean her bottoms. But wipes are fine, too, I think.
必需品。我们是用来给她擦眼睛，擦脸啊什么的。
还有Q－tip的棉花棒，也很有用。
14．Petroleum jelly——Useful, especially when you want to take the baby’s
temperature rectally.
每次换完Diaper，洗完澡都需要抹。Vaselin也可以。
15．Diaper ointment (cream)——Definitely a must have.
必需品，我前面的帖子里说过。
16．Alcohol Swabs——You’d need this to clean baby’s belly button for a
week or so.
现在最新的医学研究表明，不用酒精擦的话更好。
III．Gear
1．Car Seat
Without this, you cannot take your baby out of the hospital. You can get an
infant car seat, or a convertible car seat. The latter one can be used for
much longer. But normally they are ugly.
Infant carseat可以在医院买，我们这里25元钱一个，比外面便宜多了。可以找警察局
的人帮忙检查装得对不对，医院也应该有免费的seminar。不过我们是和下面的travel
system一起买的。
大概是从8个月的时候我们开始用Convertible carseat，是Evenflo Triumph 5
Comfort Touch Car Seat with LATCH，性价比不错，Amazon评价很好，So far, so
good.
2．Stroller
Full size stroller——We get ours as a travel system, which including an
infant car seat.
我们也是用的Travel System，是Graco Quattro Tour Travel System，用起来很方便
。可以把从车上取下来的infant car seat直接放到stroller上面，这样不会打扰宝宝
睡觉。直接提carseat很累的。
Umbrella Stroller (with sun-shielding)——We haven’t got ours, so I don’t
think you’d worry about this just yet.
等小孩会自己坐起来的时候就可以用这个了。ToyRUS有一阵子买够75块钱的东西就送一
个，我们那个就是那时候拿来的。
3．Playards——We don’t have it, mostly because we don’t have that much
room in an apartment.
我们有一个是在Target买的，是Evenflo的Baby GO，可以折叠起来放在车里，刚买回来
的时候好像很有用。可以把它放在院子里，让baby在里面晒太阳，出门去玩的时候也可
以带上，晚上可以睡在里面。但很快她学会满地爬以后就不愿意呆在里面了，现在基本
没用过了。可以跳过，我觉得。
4．Bouncers/Swings
We have a bouncer. Amy started to sit in it when she was 1 week old. She
likes it a lot.
Some babies like swing better. We didn’t buy it because we don’t have that
much room.
这两个我们都有，是朋友送的。刚开始的时候很有用，相比之下她更喜欢swing。很快
小孩长大了，就不能用了。
5．Highchair
We just bought ours last week. So you don’t need to worry about it just yet
. And again, because we don’t have that much room, we bought a booster,
which serves fine.
必需品。一个好的high chair是baby学会进食好的开端。
IV．Diapers/Formula
1．Diapers——We tried 3 different brands, pampers, huggies and white cloud
from walmart. We find white cloud’s new born size very good, not as chunky
as the other two. But starting size 1, they are not as good as the other two
. We like pampers the best for size 1-2 and size 3, quality-wise and anti-
leaking-wise.
We bought them either from Sams’ Club or Babiesrus (when we have coupons).
Amy was born rather small, so we used 3 packs new born size (80 each). I
guess you guys only need to buy new born ones. And since hospital will give
you some, plus, if you register online, you’d always get samples, you can
try different brand to see which one you like.
You can also use washable diapers. There are diaper services, which are not
as expensive as I thought. It’s almost the same price as you purchased
disposable ones.
这个在其他的帖子里我说过了。我们目前只用pampers Cruise，以前试过huggies和其
他的一个杂牌子，很不喜欢。
我们用的是pampers cruise，很喜欢。用过一次huggis，感觉很不好，遇水后很容易结
块，硬邦邦地宝宝也很不舒服。好像其他的爸爸妈妈也有类似的经历，不明白为什么
huggies还是卖得挺好，反正我们以后再也不买了。一箱diaper一般是30块左右，
costco降价的时候是25，babyrus有coupon 的时候也可以（20% off）。上次amazon有
买够70送30块钱gift card的deal，我们买了3箱（每箱30）。babyrus的coupon在哪些
免费的baby杂志上都有（American baby, baby talk之类的）
2．Wipes——Brands don’t make a difference to us.
只在出门的时候用，在家基本不用。基本上我们都是用水洗PP的，干净卫生，就是稍微
麻烦些。Wipe用来擦地上的奶渍很有效。
3．Formula——If you register on babycenter.com or something like that, they
’d send you samples.
试过Enfamil，Similac和Nestle。目前baby ingrid只吃 Milk based
Enfamil Lipil with Iron。我们都是买38oz的那种大桶，一个星期多一点就吃完了。
一般的店里找不到，只有amazon和costco有。Amazon卖$31， Costco现在卖$29。因为
有80％的GC，所以以前都是在Amazon买。不过现在Amazon没货了，只好到Costco。

V．Nursery Furniture
1．Crib——I think the most important feature is that you should be able to
lower the sidebar by one hand.
好的Crib很贵，BabyRUs里面动辄200多。刚开始我们用的是朋友给的，后来有点不放心
，到IKEA买了一个，$70多。将来可以改成 junior bed。我觉得还是新的比较好，很结
实，放心。因为baby长大了很喜欢扒着栏杆在Crib里面跳，还是结实最重要。
2．Mattresses——Don’t buy foam ones. They are not as good as coiled ones.
我们也是在IKEA买的，跟crib配套的。
3．Mattress pad——My mom made this for us. And I think you should have at
least one. It’s not very comfortable sleeping directly on the mattress.
Some use waterproof ones. But I don’t think those waterproof material is
very comfortable. Plus, I think disposable diapers can prevent wetting bed
pretty well. Amy hasn’t wet her bed once.
需要。现在我们在matress上面垫了老人从国内带来的厚毯子，也很舒服应该。
4．Changing table——We don’t have a changing table. We just change her on
our bed. Again, it’s because we don’t have that much space.
我们在IKEA买了上面这样的一个柜子给小孩放衣服，也拿这个当changing table用。
5．Changing pad——We don’t have it either. The bed is soft enough. But if
you have a changing table, then you have to have this.
我们买了一个这个放在上面的柜子上头，很管用。尤其是刚开始学习换diaper的时候，
很容易弄得到处都是湿的，这个是塑料的，就不用担心了。可以在上面再垫一层毯子，
这样就算湿了，也只需要洗一个毯子而不是整套床单被罩什么的。
6．Bedding/Room Décor
7．Crib sheet——We have 2, quite enough.
买一套bedding set就可以了。
8．Receiving Blankets——Buy the 30 x 40 ones. There are a lot of 30×30
ones on the market. They are too small. And you don’t need to buy too many.
We bought 4, never used them to wrap Amy, though. The reason is that new
fabric is not that comfy. We took half a dozen from the hospital. They don’
t have fancy patterns. But since they have been washed over and over again,
they are really soft.
有用，刚开始的时候包蜡烛包用的，不过ingrid很不喜欢被包得紧紧的，总是想办法把
手伸出来。后来我们就不打包了。
9．Waterproof pad——We don’t have any.
same here。
10．Quilt——We don’t have any. In winter, we just layered her using our
quilt.
以前用的是bedding set里面的小被子。后来老人来带了好几床小棉被子、丝被子，我
都想睡在里面，一定又暖和又舒服。
11．Crib Blanket——Don’t have any, either.
也是从国内带来的。
Bedding Set——We bought one set from IKEA, really cheap, $20, including a
fitted sheet, a flat sheet, a blanket, and a bumper around the crib. And
that ’s actually quite enough. We found the bumpers people put around the
crib very distracting for baby. We stopped using it after we started
training Amy to sleep. So I don’t recommend you buy those fancy bedding set
. But again, they are really cute.

VI．Toys
1．Mobile——Amy started noticing it around she was 1 months old. I don’t
think she’d notice other toys, like stuffed animals, though.

2．Books——We started reading to her quite early. She always fell asleep,
though.

3．Baby Gym——Amy started to really play with it around she was 3 months
old. Before that she just stared at it.

VI．Apparel
1．Body suits——Newborns are really small. The only body suits we found fit
arethose newborn sets. For example, 4 body suits in one plastic bag. We
bought Gerber ones. Really nice and cute. When they get bigger, body suits
are the essential piece. Most of Amy’s clothes are body suits. Before
giving birth, other than the newborn sets, you can buy 3 to 4 in 0- 3 months
size, and 3 to 4 in 3- 6 months. That should be quite enough.
2．Snap Shirts——We bought 4, and took half a dozen from the hospital. They
are quite useful before the umbilical cord fell off.
3．Gown——We have 2 of them, not very useful though. We always swaddled Amy
when she is sleeping.
4．T-shirts——We have a couple of them, not very useful though. Because
wearing this, the little belly is exposed. So we always put Amy in her body
suits.
5．Sleeper——Really useful in winter. We put Amy in these even when we go
out because they are the best when it comes to keeping baby warm. Sam’s
Club has some good deal all year around.
6．Jump suit——A couple of them would be enough. They are cute. But
normally a body suit would be enough indoors. And babies don’t go out that
often.
7．Sweater——We have two of them, and quite enough.
8．Outerwear——Since Amy was born in the fall, we didn’t buy hers until
that Thanksgiving. We took her to the mall and try different ones on her
before she got really mad. And it turned out to be too small. She outgrew it
when she was 5 months old. And the one we bought is for 9 months old. So
when you buy this sort of things, you have to consider the weather and the
size of your baby.
9．Hat——Even though Amy has a big head, the hat we bought were still way
too big for her in her early days. We ended up bought a couple of hats for
preemies. So you need to consider size when you buy them. Since infants need
hats to keep their temperature all the time, you’d need at least 2 of them.
10．Bib——We only started use bib when we started bottle feeding. And a
cloth can work fine, too. So you don’t need too many, a couple of them
would be enough.
11．Mitten——Babies scratch themselves. However, some say it’s not good to
put mittens on. They deprive them the pleasure of touching different things
. That’s why we just let her scratch herself after she was 1 month old.
12．Booty and socks——a couple of them would be fine.

我的体会是：
1．这个挤奶器，只能当辅助的挤奶的工具。奶主要还是要靠孩子去吸允，不然不利于
奶的再生，也不利于孩子习惯吃母奶，并且由于吸允的不充分，而引起乳腺炎。
2．这个奶垫，不知道吸水能力如何。我用的就是小方脸巾，比较厚的那种，一叠为1/4
大小，很实用。
3．这个小摇椅在baby半岁前很有用。Baby也不想老躺着，能够坐起来看得高点远点，
他也很高兴的。
4．Baby Sleeper Sack
还有一种Baby睡觉用的小睡袋似的物件儿，挺有用的，这样不担心孩子晚上睡觉打被子
。薄棉制的，下面可以不封口，并且宽一些象个裙子。

一．如果要母乳喂养，建议买：
1．Medela 电动的Breast Pumps.
应该有好几种型号的，类似这样的。
2．Breastfeeding Creams
新妈妈大概都需要这个.
3．Nursing Pillow 就是英子上面提到的。很有用。
4.Breastfeeding Pads 可以买一次性的, 也可以象小雨和英子说的那样的小毛巾.
二．Bottle Feeding
1．推荐Dr. Brown的奶瓶

3．Pacifiers: 推荐Gerber Nuk 的.

建议用CONCENTRATED的. 我看了一下婴儿奶粉的生产过程, 感觉液体的要比POWDER的好
. 当然最好的是READY TO FEED, 不过可能要贵一些. CONCENTRATED和POWDER的价格相
差不大.
5．建议买两个新锅, 专门给宝宝用. 一个用于消毒奶瓶. 一个烧开水, 配奶粉.
当然可以买Bottle Sterilizer用于消毒. 水好象也可以在超市买的到.
三．宝宝用品
1．diaper
比较喜欢pampers的Swaddlers (size 1-2)和Cruisers(size 3号以上)
个人不是很喜欢Huggies的. pampers 的Baby Dry我也不喜欢.
2．baby wipes
3．Vaselin和Diaper ointment，英子贴子里提到过。
4．Changing table 如果家里宽敞，可以买一个。
5．Bath Tub 我感觉需要两个。一个是new born的那种，可以用到6个月。另一个就是
比较大的那种。英子贴子里都有图。
6．BABY WASH AND SHAMPOO 以及baby lotion
我喜欢Aveeno的，不太喜欢Johnson。不过好象Aveeno也是Johnson的产品。

1．Bottle: 1 pack of 3 9oz Avent bottle. (Dr. Brown).
About the baby bottle, don't buy more than one bottles of the same kind (
brand), because you don't know which one you baby will like. Also, I prefer
the disposable bottle (I use
the Avent one), there is less gas for the baby. But more important, you don'

7. plenty of burping cloth, I use 6 small hand towels.
8. Pamper newborn diapers:
pampers newborn. It's their premium line, so better quality than the baby-
dry diaper. More importantly, it's has the tab which is cut off, this won't
upset the umbilical cord.
9. Baby wipe
About baby wipes, I used the supposed most gently baby wipe (France made
Mustela) on my newborn daughter, her bottom became after only one use.
newborn's skin is just too gentle. I didn't try other brand. But intead I
use the cotton balls with warm water to clean
her. The cotton ball sold in babyR us is of good quality, the fabric don't
come off easily.
The one sold at target is not as good. You can also try the "softnet cleaner
", it's a sheet of paper which has net on them, it's very soft and strong,
the fabric doesn't come off.
10. Bathtub. 要是第一次做父母,给孩子买个洗澡用的能托住他背部的架子,具体英文
名字我不记得了,很好用,我一个人给BB洗澡都OK.

这种热奶器比较好控制温度，而且它带车用电源转接插头，可以在车上用。
不要买Night & Day Bottle Warmer By The First Years，它看起来不错，可是很难掌
握温度，冷藏盒用处不大，还挺占地方，我用了一阵，实在觉得不好用，只好退了。
28、Nursing Pad
Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads $6.99 (Amazon.com)
如果你要母乳喂养，一定要买Nursing Pad，我用过好几种，Medela的和这种最好用，
但这种比Medela的便宜3美元。千万不要买那种UltraThin Pad By Gerber，It’s use
less。也不要买那种Washable Pad by Avent，它吸水力也不行，白天用用还凑合，晚
上根本没用。

Nursing/Feeding
Breast Pump——I bought the Avent Isis Manual Pump at first, which is shown
in the picture below. If you won’t be away from your baby and the pump is
just for breast engorgement, it’ll be fine. But if you will be traveling or
working, this is not as powerful as Medela electronic ones. I bought Medela
pump in style traveler later. It’s very convenient and I’ve never used
the Avent one since. So if you are sure you will be away from your baby, I
suggest you invest in a Medela at the very beginning. It has manual feature,
any way.
Nursing Pillow——Extremely helpful in the first couple of months, when baby
is really small.
Bottles and Newborn Nipples--- If you are planning breast feeding, this is
not very important. However, if you will be away from your baby, you’d
better start try bottle-feeding around 4-6 weeks. After that, it’s
relatively hard for baby to accept a bottle. Also notice that when you buy
Avent product like Isis pump, there will be bottles in the package (We didn
’t buy any before Amy was born). In addition, some babies are really picky
about bottle, so you might need to try different brands.
Nursing Bras——Extremely helpful if you are planning breast feeding. Buy at
least one size and one cup bigger. For example, if you are 32A before
pregnancy, you might need 34B or 34C or even bigger. You can buy a couple of
them before giving birth and buy more when you are sure about your size.
The ones at motherhood.com are not bad.
Nursing Pads——I find disposable ones (I like Gerber contour for medium and
heavy flow) very useful in the first couple of months when my milk supply
is more than enough. Since the leaking was really severe, using washable
ones still gave me wet shirts. Later on when the leakage is not a big
concern, the washable ones are fine.
Breast cream——Extremely helpful for the first couple of weeks. Your nurse
might recommend some brand. I find Lansinoh very good.
Burping cloths——Never had any. Some find them useful, though. I just let
Amy spit on me. : p.
Bottle Warmer——Never had any.
Bottle Sterilizer——Avent Express Microwave Steam Sterilizer is very
convenient. I’d call it a “must-have”. And in the package there are 4
bottles.
Bottle Drying Rack——Never had any.
Bottle Brush——1 should be enough. I bought mine at wal-mart.
Pacifiers——Different babies have different preference. Amy likes the Avent
ones. I guess it’s because she uses Avent bottle and nipples. I didn’t
give it to her until she was 1 month old to avoid nipple confusion. And she
quit using it when she was 4 months old. She just didn’t like it any more.
Some babies keep sucking on it till 3 years old. If you are afraid your
babies gonna be like that, just don’t offer them any. So basically I
suggest you hold off such things after your baby is born. The hospital will
give you one for free any way.
Rattle and Teether——Amy started to notice such things when she was 2 or 3
months. So again, you don’t need to pile up stock on this. But I couldn’t
resist buying them before Amy was born. So it’s up to you.
Baby Care
Baby Thermometer——Don’t use the mercury ones. They are considered not
safe. Buy a digital one which can be used rectally because that’s the most
accurate way for newborns. I don’t think brand matters. I bought mine at
Wal-mart.
Baby Nail Scissor, Brush——I cut Amy’s nails when she was 2 days old. You
can certainly use the ones you use for yourself. But I feel they are way too
big. There are a lot of other accessories. But we only have these two and
find it enough so far.
Nasal Aspirator——very useful for us.
Room Thermometer——very useful for us, you might want one of those meters
that can tell humidity, too. Adults are not as sensitive as newborns. Some
time you feel comfortable while they don’t. So these meters can help.
Diaper Pail——Never had any.
Bath
Bath Tub——We bought ours at IKEA, which is the first one below. It’s not
as fancy as the second one, which is for new born. But we use a certain bath
rack from wal-mart in it and it worked fine. Later when Amy is bigger we
take the rack out and it’s much bigger.
Bath Towel——They are cute. But actually our normal bath towel works, too.
Soft Washcloths——We bought about a dozen. It’s more than enough.
Bath Toy——We bought a couple, again, just because they are cute. But up
until now, 6 months, Amy still doesn’t pay much attention to them.
Bath Water Thermometer——We have one, never used it. Maybe for the first
couple of baths you’d need it to avoid freaking out yourself. But generally
you can just feel it to know.
Toiletries
We bought a package of these things, including shampoo, wash, and lotion.
There are some other fancy stuffs; like baby oil, rubbing alcohol, sun block
. We don’t have them, and never need them. Recently Amy had eczema. And our
ped said J&J is not very good. She said the only thing special about baby
toiletries is that they are marketed for babies. She recommended a couple of
brands, including Dove and Nivea, which I am using. So I don’t think you
need to buy these things special for your baby.
Mild soap for laundry——We just wash Amy’s clothes together with ours, so
never have this.
Cotton swabs
Cotton Balls——Before Amy was 1 month old, we use this and water to clean
her bottoms. But wipes are fine, too, I think.
Petroleum jelly——Useful, especially when you want to take the baby’s
temperature rectally.
Diaper ointment (cream)——Definitely a must have.
Alcohol Swabs——You’d need this to clean baby’s belly button for a week
or so.
Car Seat
Without this, you cannot take your baby out of the hospital. You can get an
infant car seat, or a convertible car seat. The latter one can be used for
much longer. But normally they are ugly.
Stroller
Full size stroller——We get ours as a travel system, which including an
infant car seat.
Umbrella Stroller (with sun-shielding)——We haven’t got ours, so I don’t
think you’d worry about this just yet.
Playards
We don’t have it, mostly because we don’t have that much room in an
apartment.
Bouncers/Swings
We have a bouncer. Amy started to sit in it when she was 1 week old. She
likes it a lot.
Some babies like swing better. We didn’t buy it because we don’t have that
much room.
Highchair
We just bought ours last week. So you don’t need to worry about it just yet
. And again, because we don’t have that much room, we bought a booster,
which serves fine.
Diapers/Formula
Diapers——We tried 3 different brands, pampers, huggies and white cloud
from walmart. We find white cloud’s new born size very good, not as chunky
as the other two. But starting size 1, they are not as good as the other two
. We like pampers the best for size 1-2 and size 3, quality-wise and anti-
leaking-wise. We bought them either from Sams’ Club or Babiesrus (when we
have coupons). Amy was born rather small, so we used 3 packs new born size (
80 each). I guess you guys only need to buy new born ones. And since
hospital will give you some, plus, if you register online, you’d always get
samples, you can try different brand to see which one you like.
You can also use washable diapers. There are diaper services, which are not
as expensive as I thought. It’s almost the same price as you purchased
disposable ones.
Wipes——Brands don’t make a difference to us.
Formula——If you register on babycenter.com or something like that, they’d
send you samples.
Nursery Furniture
Crib——I think the most important feature is that you should be able to
lower the sidebar by one hand.
Mattresses——Don’t buy foam ones. They are not as good as coiled ones.
Mattress pad——My mom made this for us. And I think you should have at
least one. It’s not very comfortable sleeping directly on the mattress.
Some use waterproof ones. But I don’t think those waterproof material is
very comfortable. Plus, I think disposable diapers can prevent wetting bed
pretty well. Amy hasn’t wet her bed once.
Changing table——We don’t have a changing table. We just change her on our
bed. Again, it’s because we don’t have that much space.
Changing pad——We don’t have it either. The bed is soft enough. But if you
have a changing table, then you have to have this.
Bedding/Room Décor
Crib sheet——We have 2, quite enough.
Receiving Blankets——Buy the 30 x 40 ones. There are a lot of 30x30 ones on
the market. They are too small. And you don’t need to buy too many. We
bought 4, never used them to wrap Amy, though. The reason is that new fabric
is not that comfy. We took half a dozen from the hospital. They don’t have
fancy patterns. But since they have been washed over and over again, they
are really soft.
Waterproof pad——We don’t have any.
Quilt——We don’t have any. In winter, we just layered her using our quilt.
Crib Blanket——Don’t have any, either.
Bedding Set——We bought one set from IKEA, really cheap, $20, including
afitted sheet, a flat sheet, a blanket, and a bumper around the crib. And
that’s actually quite enough. We found the bumpers people put around the
cribvery distracting for baby. We stopped using it after we started training
Amy to sleep. So I don’t recommend you buy those fancy bedding set. But
again, they are really cute.
