Harbes Farm and Orchard,

9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends and Oct. 14.
Over 10 varieties, including Daybreak Fuji, Jonagold, Cameo, and Golden
Delicious, along with pumpkins and a corn maize. No dogs.
Lewin Farms, Fresh Pond Ave.,
Calverton. (631) 929-4327 or www.lewinfarms.com. Open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
weekends and Oct. 14. Choose from a dozen varieties of apples, including
Yellow Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Rome, Empire, Cortland, and
Gala. Also visit the corn maize.
Wickham’s Fruit Farm,
Rte 25, Cutchogue. (631) 734-6441 or www.wickhamsfruitfarm.com. Open 9 a.m.
-4 p.m. Closed Sundays.
Pick apples, and purchase cider, preserves and freshly made doughnuts and
pies, along with u-pick pumpkins. This busy place offers tours, wagon rides
and bee observation. Dogs are allowed on leashes.
Windy Acres Farm,
3810 Main Rd., Calverton. (631) 727-4554.
Over 30 varieties of apples, including Gala, McIntosh and Cortland. Open
daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. With corn maize, hayrides, animals to visit, and other
related seasonal activities.
Woodside Orchards,
Manor La., Jamesport, and Main Rd., Aquebogue. (631) 722-5770 or www.
woodsideorchards.com. Open daily, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., in Aquebogue; 9 a.m.-5 p.m
. weekends and Oct. 14 in Jamesport. Over 27 varieties, including Gala, Red
Delicicious, Empire, and Jonagold. Snacks and drinks are available.
Seven Ponds Orchard,
65 Seven Ponds Rd., Water Mill. (631) 726-8015. 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Choose from Ginger Gold, Gala, McIntosh, Macoun, and Golden Delicious. Other
activities include a corn maze, hayrides and a picnic area. Blackberry and
raspberry picking are also offered, along with candy apples, jams, pies, and
more.
The Milk Pail,
757 Mecox Rd., Water Mill. (631) 537-2565 or www.milk-pail.com. Friday,
Saturday, Sunday, and Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
26 varieties are available, including Jonamac, McIntosh, Jonamac, and
Braeburn. Also find home-baked treats and cider for sale.

近來早晚的低溫，似乎告知秋季的來到。不過，亮麗秋陽總是提醒大家：是時候到紐約
上州採蘋果了。
由於今夏雨水充足，加上夏末的高溫，紐約上州今年蘋果與其他水果可望大豐收。一般
而言，從8月下旬至10月中旬，都是採蘋果的好時節，除了紐約的招牌水果蘋果之外，
梨子、李子、甜玉米、藍莓、葡萄與南瓜等，也都是季節性作物，可在農場採到。
「Pick Your Own」(PYO，隨你摘)是大多數蘋果園的號召，讓遊客摘個夠。除了採蘋果
，農場多半同時也銷售新鮮蔬果、果醬、果乾等副產品，或是開放小動物參觀，以及開
放學校團票與孩童生日派對等，讓孩童親身體驗農場生活等。採蘋果不只可以吃到樹上
直接摘下來的新鮮果實，同時也是一個走向大自然，親子同歡與師生野外教學的好途徑。
現在介紹幾個採蘋果農場吧！離紐約市較近、往北向上州走州際87號公路，從17號出口
紐堡市(Newburgh)或18號出口紐帕茲市(New Paltz)，再轉入州內公路，沿路至少數個
採蘋果的農場一路跟你招手。建議先到谷歌地圖(Google Maps)紐約上州一帶，再打上
「Apple picking」，就會出現幾個推薦農場。例如，彌爾頓市(Milton)的 Prospect
Hill Farms，紐堡市的Lawrence Farms Orchards，以及離Woodbury大賣場約15分鐘車
程的Warwick Applewood Orchards(渥韋克)等，都有不錯的果園。
對於蘋果愛好者有個好消息，從1989年在渥韋克舉辦的蘋果嘉年華(Applefest)今年已
邁向第25周年，將於10月6日上午10時至下午5時免費入場，堪稱是美國「前百大活動」
，一天吸引3萬名遊客前往，可瀏覽手工藝攤位、兒童嘉年華，烤蘋果派大賽等等，值
