属于28 区， 环境也不错，小学可能和forest hills差不多，初高中比较差， 不过反
正NYC的初高总都差，等小孩上中学我们应该也搬家了。可是好像没有人推荐我门去那
里买房。有经验的人说说，谢谢！ |

我原先看房子实在不懂，看小学great school score 8 分以上就可以了，现在看了人
口分布，还有公立小学排名的情况，我LD就坚持要买能让小孩上forest hills 196 小
学的房子，问题是那里的话我们买不起townhouse/house,只能买condo/coop，（预算
70K以下），而那里的condo很少，几乎没有，都是co-op，我一直不喜欢co-op,没有自
主权，还要交很多管理费，听说没有升值的潜力，可是LD说就要买那里的co-op， 说小
孩的教育最重要。可我看网上说女子那个小学很挤，就算住那里也不一定能上，要抽签
。我们从外州来，我还是转变不了要买house的愿望。实在不行，就condo,co-op我老觉
得不好。还有小学差一点很重要吗？（当然我也是觉得教育很重要，也希望小孩上好的
学校）。长岛和bayside会有能买的起的house和更好的学区，可是我的工年性质实在不
能长时间地commute.为了这个与LD吵了，我是不是很自私？ |

i mean, if i were a chinese parent who's dead set on converting my kid to be
an ivy league douchebag, i would move to the bronx and harlem, teach my kid
math by myself, SAT would be so easy, and have my kid voluteer at NAACP,
and write an entrance essay at how fucked up government is at treating poor
colored people. if this dont get u into harvard or princeton, i dont know
what will!

kids, but sure they also provide opportunities to those great kids from low
income families. If you see how the Asian population growth in NYC or the US
in the last decade, there isn't that much advantage for these kids labeled
as Asian or Chinese in getting into these colleges, and the competition is
bigger and bigger.
There is an article in NYTimes talking about how those prestigious private
institutions encourage smart kids from low income families to apply for
their schools, the school appears in that article particularly is Vassar
college. In terms of education, top liberal arts schools is just as good as
those ivy leagues.
Most Chinese parents come here with student visas don't consider as low
income group and they don't want to mingle with these people. They have
earned their master/phD degree very hard in the expensive of many other
things in their lives, such social lives, boy/girlfriends while they were
teens.... but for sure, they are now earning a lot more than American
average people's income and searching higher standard educations for their
kids...

that's because most poor students dont have enough of a SAT score or they
dont even know how to apply...
chinese offsprings have the advantage of chinese WSN/V parents, who are good
at nothing but math tests... so they dont need to live in an expensive
neighborhood and go to a fucking "good" school to score a good SAT score..
chinese WSN/V families can live in a good neighborhood, but they aint
mingling with their rich white neighbors either... ppl in US dont mingle
with their neighbors. people in china dont even mingle with their neighbors
either nowadays!
chinese population dont have much advantage, that's because they dont know
how to fucking develop their kids. go to sanfran board, and u will read a
thread about some chinese male kid, getting good grades, but still can't
even get into Berkeley...
but i can't help but laugh at their stupidity! for a lot of schools,
especially those hippie schools like Berkeley, grades are sometimes the
least important thing. U just need to make the cut in terms of the SAT
score, but more importantly, it's ur entrance essay, what kind of extra-
curricular shit u did in high school...

better and that's where all the high paying jobs are.
It's true that many high degree people have a lot of problems when talking
about daily life matters. You can see a lot of questions here and and
sometimes talking to them in persons. Most people just know what they
want, but don't care about others' matters, and only do things they like.
However, many others are very social, too. I think we the Chinese have great
advantages in maths and science, and what we need are the arts and
humanities educations. If we can achieve that, we will see more top
management people in big companies or in the government fields...
Don't just look at the dark side, there are a lot of Americans envy and
wonder how the Chinese can do so much better in the math and exams..too.

LD怕学校如果一堆劳模老黑，小孩会学坏。这个容不进白人圈，我也听说过，很多

zoned for PS144, but you can find some zoned for PS101 as well. A lot of
people actually prefer PS101 over PS196.

The problem is there are very few houses on the market in forest hills and
the few houses there are either far away from subway or not zoned for a good
elementary school.
