These private institutions of learning cost more to attend for a single year
than many families earn in that time. Here's where sticker prices are the
highest.
No. 7: Fordham University
Location: Bronx, N.Y.
Annual total cost: $58,732
Annual tuition: $40,292
Like that of its Big Apple neighbor, New York University, Fordham's room and
board expenses of $15,000 annually rank among the highest in the country.
And for undergrads, good luck coming up with the cash for a game down the
road at the new Yankee Stadium.
No. 6: Northwestern University
Location: Evanston, Ill.

Annual tuition: $41,893
The Big Ten school sits on 240 acres in suburban Chicago, right by Lake
Michigan. Northwestern's endowment of more than $7 billion stands as one of
the 10 highest in the country.
No. 5: New York University
Location: New York City

Big growth in facilities and a $2.8 billion endowment have transformed New
York University from a decent commuter school into an elite institution over
the past couple of decades. Tuition is comparable to similar schools, but
