it's very easy to make your own choice. Americans are left/right not because
they are earning more money, poor or rich, but the value they hold. The
east and the west coastal areas are democrats dominated, and the middles are
more red. Why most new comers to the country don't settle in the middle but
staying in the east and the west?
KKK is extremely right if you believe extreme left stories. Just check it

democrat 20-30 years ago when KKK are still very strong. These days, the
south have become closer (not fully) to the Republican side as the
information age seem to have educate more people - and you hear less about
KKK.
BTW, Romney is Governor of Massachusetts and was reelected by this
traditionally very democrat controlled state. You may want to find out why
they have reelected him even through he is a republican.

right think government have to protect liberty, while left think government
have to provide security. in another word, greed / fear.
in mid-west, security is not an issue, because they have abundant resources,
the living condition develops a different value than in the costal areas.
here in costal areas, things constantly changing, we see how easy ppl can
fall into poverty due to forces beyond their control, we see how small we
are, we need government to provide a better safety net than ppl in the mid-
west.
