i dont think use the "hate crime" accusation too liberally too casually is a
good idea.
we should be strategical, and use it gingerly.
for example, the "gay hate" web cam case at new jersey, the close statement
by the judge was stating, that was not a "hate crime" case. a lot of gay
right advocates also said, they dont want to use "anti-gay" or "hate" on
this case, so mass will think gays are the new "untouchbles".
for the canadian killer, he must possess the original footage. the truth
will be flushed out soon. no point make any assumption before that.
i think for him, he will enjoy the publicity very much. and his comrades
will treat him like an idol or god. to sent him to a mental institute and
ignore him forever will be the best for the society. to tag him with "hate
crime" might not be the best solution. if it's up to me, i will portrait him
as the dumbest and most retarded person ever, so some of the people will
stop "admiring" him. believe it or not, people follow fame. does not matter
it is a good one or bad one. there were girls following serial killers and
writting love letters. there are people following "jersey shore". people are
dumb. |

also this term has no extra weight unless the judge, in certain states, says
so. in new york, that means whatsoever sentencing x 2. in some states it is
like a farse.
