「紐約郵報」報導，作者利格魯斯(Mark Regnerus)和約克(Jeremy Uecker)發現，
10001郵區是個女人世界，78%的20歲青年是女性。
22歲的艾琳．捷沙克(Erin Czesak)說：「附近完全沒有青年男子。」她要到西村找同
齡男友。
她抱怨說，更糟糕的是，這個社區是男同性戀者的集中地，很少男士想結識女子。
約會顧問和紅娘咖啡室(Matchmaker Cafe，Facebook的一個網頁)的創始人南茜．史洛
尼克(Nancy Slotnick)說：「這一區的女子受到女多於男，和男同性戀者較多的雙重打
擊。」

根據2010年的人口普查數據，紐約州的未婚女子比率，全國最高。
紐約市的女性特別難找對象，未結過婚的女子，比率由2006年的39%上升至現在的42%。

根據普查數字分析，在雀兒喜，20歲至24歲的年齡層中，男女比例是1:2，全市最高。
上東城的兩個豪華社區，東60街一帶的10065郵區和東70街一帶的10075郵區，也好不了
多少，在20歲至24歲的年輕人中，65%是女子。
利格魯斯說，這是因女青年比男青年更嚮往迷人的城市生活，她們試圖實現凱莉布雷蕭
(Carrie Bradshaw，慾望城市的主角)的奇想。
他說，這裡像男士們的糖果店。
可悲的是，紐約市的約會地點也不多，同時全市性別比例失衡。
曼哈坦和布朗士並列為情況最壞，婦女人口占53.1%。
史泰登島最平等，51.5%人口是女性；布碌崙的女性人口占52.8%，皇后區占51.6%。
史洛尼克說，在沒有太多單身異性的社區生活，確實令約會機會大減。本區的洗衣店、
超市或健身房往往是尋找愛侶的好地方。

From the key points, the research appear to be very bias.
Just because NYS has the highest % of unmarried female does not make them
truly single & available.

are still in college or fresh college graduated. Many of them are burdened
by student loans, if they are not from wealthy families, not many of them
have a lot of $. Once they have earned $, they will likely go to bars to
search for bf/gf.
If the age range is different, that might be a different story.
I never read the book, just saw this news.

Surprise that the publisher didn't just throw the paper into the trash can.

dumb thesis. People do research on how young people behave and act in order
to advance on whatever they are targeting. They might speak from one group's
interest which may not fit you or other group's interest.
If you read the reviews, they are all 5 stars albeit only few of them.

Somebody/some group might do a research on how NYC people dated in other age
ranges and ethnicities to satisfy other people's needs. Americans dating is
different from those from India and different from those from China.
