r***l 发帖数: 298 | 1 The following question is posted for a friend who recently returned to China
to teach.
He needs to amend the birth certificates for his two kids without having to
fly to NY.
He is a Canadian citizen born in Hong Kong. Has two kids, both born in the
US.
On both girls' birth certificates, under "Father's Birth place", he put down
"Hong Kong". But Chinese embassy refuse to recognize the whole document
because they don't recognize "Hong Kong" as an independent country. Because
of just that, his girls have issues in terms of immigration and education
etc.
He needs to get that information amended, if possible without taking a (long
) trip to NY. It's a little urgent He hopes to get this done by April/May.
I have no clue what speciality of law applies to this issue.
Do you know some family law lawyer or immigration lawyer in NY that you may
refer to him?
Many thanks to all. | d*b 发帖数: 21830 | 2 Contact British embassy, the Royal Commission in Canada:

Father born in colonial Hong Kong, kids born in United States, by Chinese law your two kids are not Chinese citizen, why go to Chinese embassy for Chinese passport? I even doubt can kids have any chance to get BNO.
Get American passport, period.
