First of all, DESPITE the rude hostess who seated someone who came in later
than we did first, this place is AMAZING.
I am korean and I can cook Korean food, so in order for me to go out and
spend money on Korean food, the food has to be amazing. This place is more
than that. I have not found many places in pal park that I consider good.
Having spent two years in korea, i fell in love with the fried-rice culture.
Whatever you eat - meat, fish, shabu shabu - there's fried rice at the end
- and it is usually done on the same grill/griddle as the meat, fish,
whatever you had. I had spent a long time looking for some place that did
this - especially with chicken or nak-ji. This place is a gem!
I had the nakji-bokkeum with pork belly meat. the meat was tender and the
spices were just right. I can't really do spicy - though I am korean - but I
was able to handle their heat. And the fried rice after the meal...amazing
.
I will go back despite the rude service.

my bf and i love to eat here when we're in jersey. we're both korean and
have tried many of the places in pal park, but chung dam dong is one of the
best on the street. the waitresses are nice and though they're usually
pretty busy, they try to pay enough attention so you don't have empty water
glasses or side dishes.
we always order the same thing and it's the one i would really recommend:
ssam jung shik. it comes with 1. hot plate of spicy pork belly stiry fry w/
cabbage and onions 2. huge tray of fresh greens/lettuce/cabbage varieties to
wrap your meat 3. small kong biji stew (soy bean stew) 4. small dwen jang
jjigae (bean paste stew) and 5.specially made dipping bean paste, all for
just $35. the portions are big and the food is delicious! and that is coming
from two koreans who love eating korean food! on top of all that, all the
sides dishes are super fresh and there are a lot of them (most restaurants
give 5-6, here its around 9). the dressing on the salad is really good too.
if you're in the area, it's definitely worth trying out!

Please forgive me if my spelling is not correct. I'm not Korean, just love
the food.
Had beef trip ji gae and kimchi ji gae. Wonderful, unique taste on the beef
. Prepared perfectly. The banchan was very fresh and immaculately
presented. My favorite dish had had half a dozen small disks of fried egg
wrapped around spicy vegetables, held together with a toothpick.
The service was diffident. That may have been the language barrier or the
early hour, 11:20 on a Sunday morning.
A friend called it the most authentic Korean food in NJ. This is only my
seventh Korean restaurant but I'd call it the best so far, better than Woo
Jung or So Moon Nan Jip on Broad Ave. Will be back to try more.

i'm giving chung dam dong a 5 star.
it's a hidden gem and i promise that you will be coming back here for more
once you try their "ssam jung shik" which is their ginormous ssam dish that
consists of an assortment of leaves served on a wooden boat, dwen jang /
ssam jang for dipping, dwen jang jjigae, and spicy pork ... all for $35. it'
s enough to be shared between 2, perhaps even 3. the quality and the
quantity is bountiful and the taste is phenomenal. i can't say the same
about all the other items on the menu and maybe my rating can be a bit
biased but once you try, you will be going back quite often. i promise. | m******p
