paying the conference $11 million, clearing the way for the school to join
the Big 12 starting with the 2012 football season.
The two sides are scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. status hearing Thursday on a
conference call with Rhode Island Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein.
The resolution is expected soon, potentially as early as Thursday.
Speculation of a resolution has been heating up since West Virginia dropped
its 2012 game at Florida State last week and the Big East added a twelfth
football member, Memphis, today.
The school and the Big East have been embroiled in two lawsuits since West
Virginia announced plans to join the Big 12 back in October. | b**j
