Mike Stoops, the former Arizona head coach and longtime friend of the
Pelinis, said Friday he hasn't talked to Bo Pelini about any potential
coaching opportunities at Nebraska. As of this moment, there are no full-
time openings on Bo's staff.
However, it appears Husker defensive coordinator Carl Pelini could be set to
take the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic, perhaps as soon as Monday.
So, if an opening develops at NU, would Stoops be interested?
"Of course," Stoops said Friday.
After all, the Pelini and Stoops brothers became particularly close at
Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, after attending different
elementary schools. Mark Stoops was a groomsman in Bo’s wedding.
Said Mike Stoops on Friday: "We're great friends, and I have great respect
for Bo and what he's done."
“Our families are close,” Bo Pelini said in December of 2009. “We always
will be.”
