The Longhorns have announced that quarterback Garrett Gilbert, who lost his
starting job after a poor start against Brigham Young in the second game,
underwent successful shoulder surgery this morning and will miss the
remainder of the season.
Gilbert had the surgery on his right, throwing shoulder after an MRI
revealed an issue, on which UT did not elaborate. Kenny Boyd, the Longhorns
head athletic trainer for football, said the injury “appeared” to have
happened in the season opener against Rice.
“He had symptoms, but was not affected in practice leading up to BYU. After
that, it got progressively worse,” Boyd said in a statement. “We did an
MRI on the shoulder last week, and after our medical staff looked at the
results, we recommended that he have surgery. He spent some time talking
with his family and they agreed that was the route they wanted to go.”
Gilbert said in a statement that his shoulder was getting progressively
worse.
“That’s why I decided to have the surgery now, so I can get it taken care
of, start my rehab and be healthy and ready to go for next year,” he said.
“I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to play the rest of this year, but
I’ll be out there helping (Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks)
Coach (Bryan) Harsin and the quarterbacks as much as I can.” |

When he played bama in the nc game, every tx fan said he was the 2nd coming
. After the underdevelopment of mb and gd, he is now the scapegoat of the
tx failure.
If mccoy or ash injured, does tx even have another qb? |

in order to play for Princeton for next two season. |

of no 1 recruited qb's, other than vy, none of them succeed. But you do have
two mccoy's, who would be pretty good qb's even they were only three stars.
