Griffin, the Rookie of the Year favorite of the Clippers, will become the fi
rst rookie All-Star since Yao Ming(notes) in 2003. Joining Griffin on the We
stern Conference team for the Feb. 20 game at Staples Center were Tim Duncan
(notes) and Manu Ginobili(notes) of the NBA-leading Spurs; forwards Dirk Now
itzki(notes) of Dallas and Pau Gasol(notes) of the Lakers; and guards Deron
Williams(notes) of Utah and Russell Westbrook(notes) of Oklahoma City, who j
oins Griffin as the lone first-time selections.
