......Fastball bassist Tony Scalzo came up with the idea for the song after
reading journalistic articles which described the disappearance of an older
married couple, Lela and Raymond Howard from Salado, Texas, who left home in
June 1997 to attend the Pioneer Day festival at nearby Temple, Texas,
despite Lela's Alzheimers and Raymond recently coming from brain surgery.
They were discovered two weeks later, dead, at the bottom of a ravine near
Hot Springs, Arkansas, hundreds of miles off their intended route.[3][4]
About the song, Scalzo said that "It's a romanticized take on what happened"
- he "pictured them taking off to have fun, like they did when they first
met."

喜欢有故事的歌。凄美的故事跟欢快的音乐，强烈的对比呀。要是现实跟作者想象的一
样美好该多好。
刚搜了一下，找到更详细一点的介绍：
来自于Fastball的这首“The way”是一首很感人的歌。这首1998年的旧歌是Fastball
乐队贝斯手Tony Scalzo受一个真实的故事启发而写的。有一对来自美国德州的夫妇
Lela and Raymond Howard，妻子Lela患有阿尔茨海默氏病（Alzheimer’s Disease）
，即常说的“老人痴呆症”，丈夫Raymond则刚做完脑部手术。某天他们开车到附近参
加完家庭聚会后，就驶上高速公路，并神秘消失，不知所终。他们失踪后，德州奥斯丁
一家报纸专门写了一篇文章报导关于这对老夫妻。同样来自奥斯丁的Tony Scalzo对这
故事很感兴趣，幻想着Howard夫妇浪漫地远离俗世烦嚣，云游四海have fun去了，并写
了这首充满理想主义和传奇色彩的The Way，录入当年最佳专辑《All The Pain Money
Can Buy》中并成为经典。然而现实总是残酷的，就在Tony Scalzo写完这首歌后不久，
人们在亚肯色州一个峡谷的底部发现了Howard夫妇的尸体，地点离他们家只有三日车程。 |

觉得这是适合在西部荒凉的路上独自驾驶时候听的歌，配上汽车扬起的沙尘，还有临近
黄昏时橘色的日光。
