since they can't take in new applicants after the merge, the number of cards
they serve can only go down, so at certain point, they may just cut it
loose.

have been churning this card every 6 months or so for the past two years
the current best offer is 40,000 miles after 1st purchase with $89 annual
fee, they often offer 15,000 miles for spending $500 each month for 3 months
, so overall not a bad deal

miles offer doesn't waive the $89 AF.
in fact, $89 showed up in my account even before I got the card in the mail
I always closed the old ones before getting the new cards, others may have
done it differently
