summary sorted from my most recommended to least.
1. Link your UA account with Grocery account (Safeway, Vons etc). Get
125 miles for each $250 spent. Slow but worry-free, no cost. Too bad this
program will end on March 1, 2010.
2. Subscribe for newspaper. Especially Sunday only newspaper subscription
, which comes with loads of coupons. Dollar-value wise the best use of
mileages.

For example, UA does not have magazine redemption since a long time ago; And
transfer miles might be the worst way to extend your miles--sometime worse
than buying miles.
