Japan Nuclear Agency Suggests May Raise Crisis Rating For Fukushima
Tokyo (Dow Jones)--Japan's nuclear power regulator indicated Friday it m
ay raise its assessment of the crisis at the quake-hit Fukushima Daiichi
nuclear plant to level six, or "serious accident," after gathering data
on radiation levels in surrounding regions.
Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency gave a provisional rating o
f five, or "accident with wider consequences," on March 18, a week after
a magnitude 9.0-earthquake and subsequent tsunami knocked out the cooli
ng system at the Fukushima plant and caused severe damage to some of its
reactors.
"The current provisional rating was based on information available at th
e time of the assessment," said NISA spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama in a p
ress conference. "The situation remains fluid and the final assessment s
hould wait until the situation stabilizes and all data (about radiation)
becomes available," he added.
Such ratings are issued based on the International Nuclear and Radiologi
cal Event Scale, or INES. |

事故程度早就超过切尔诺贝利了。
