As a fellow NY Times reader, I am deeply disappointed by all these racist
and hateful comments in every article related to Gu. Asian Americans in the
US are constantly subject to the perpetual foreign treatment and now when
there's a shining star, Americans finally like to claim her as American. Gu
owes you readers and the US absolutely nothing. The US has its own share of
despicable human rights issues. The decision to represent China is a
personal choice and it is laughable to see readers blindly tout the benefits
of a capitalist society considering the injustices we have here. Put away
your self-righteousness and allow others to live their lives. Your opinion
does not always matter. The Olympics and sports as a whole have evolved.
Maybe you should too. |
