A schoolteacher in Marin County, California, started feeling COVID-19
symptoms on May 19, but continued to work for two days before testing
positive
The teacher - who was unvaccinated - read aloud unmasked to the class during
this time despite requirements by the school to be masked indoors
Following the teacher's test result, 12 of 24 children in the class tested
positive, including all five students who sat in the front row
In a nearby grade, six of 18 kids also were confirmed to be infected with
COVID-19, as well as siblings and parents of pupils in the two grades
CDC authors say the findings show how infectious the Indian 'Delta' variant
is and recommend that teachers be vaccinated to prevent outbreaks

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has sued Columbia Public Schools
district leadership over mask mandates imposed to fight COVID-19
transmission. In a “reverse class-action suit,” the state’s top attorney
is also suing any district that imposes a mask mandate on students and staff

Schmitt told Missourinet that the mandate “flies in the face of science,
especially given children’s low risk of severe illness and death and their
low risk of transmission. Additionally, forcing schoolchildren to mask all
day could hinder critical development by eliminating facial cues and
expressions.” He cites studies from the CDC and other international
sources that challenge the need to mask children. |
