Looking at your profile, I believe this is a sincere question. So I’ll
answer it sincerely. In the way I think you mean the term “Chinese
communism,” the strong, clear answer is “NO.”
The population of Hong Kong is just under 8 million. That puts it in the
same rank as New York city, the largest city in the US. But in China? There
are at least TWENTY cities larger than Hong Kong. Twenty. Some of those
cities are more than four times larger than Hong Kong.
Let that sink in. Most Americans simply have no idea of the scale of China
— it’s population, it’s government, it’s economy are gargantuan.
Americans also have no clue about how nationalistic Chinese people have
become. As I’ve written before recently on Quora, the AVERAGE Chinese
person makes the average viewer of Fox News look like a Berkeley sociology
professor. The overwhelming majority of Chinese people strongly support the
Chinese Communist Party and its policies. You can say they’ve been “
brainwashed,” but this also includes the most highly educated Chinese —
including ESPECIALLY young Chinese people who have studied abroad for years
(including in the US). That latter group are among the most intensely
nationalistic and anti-American people in China.
You may have heard of a few exceptions to what I’ve just written. But that
’s what they are — extremely rare exceptions. The people of China are not
“chafing under the yoke of communism.” They are sincerely happy with the
current government of China and strongly support it.
Now, imagine how they view Hong Kong. Imagine how they view the protests
happening in Hong Kong this summer.
Guess what the overwhelmingly common view of the Hong Kong protests is in
China: It’s a CIA-instigated plot to disrupt and harm China.
So … with all that in mind, can you imagine ANYTHING the US could do
that wouldn’t make things worse? I can’t. | s*****n
