The Taiwanese manufacturer that makes the iPhone is contemplating bringing
up to 10,000 jobs to Wisconsin, according to a memo drafted by state
assembly members on Wednesday.
"Recently, technology company, Foxconn, has indicated its desire to locate
in southeastern Wisconsin with up to 10,000 jobs,” state assembly members
wrote in a memo about the state's transportation-funding deficit.
Foxconn’s Chairman Terry Gou said at a June press conference that the
company may spend more than $10 billion on manufacturing in the United
States, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
The publication said the corporation is also considering additional
locations in other states, such as Michigan. | b****n

Rather than manufacturing LCD panels in the United States, Woo said it would
be more profitable to make them in greater China and Japan, ship them to
Mexico for final assembly, and import the finished product to the United
States.
Instead of manufacturing the high end LCD monitors in the $10B Wisconsin
plant that taxpayers funded, the parts will be built in Asia and assembled
in Mexico. Instead of 5200 workers by next year it will be closer to 1000.
The 13,000 jobs that were originally promised will never happen. The deal
maker and his cronies have failed miserably, yet again. | l*******t

it intends to hire mostly engineers and researchers rather than the
