from the free-range canucks i've seen in the southwest of the country, i'd
bet missionary. they have a habit of setting up underground churches
disguised as language schools. generally overlooked by the authorities if
they keep a very low profile, saved up for times when they decide to enforce
the law to the letter.
could be a bright side to all this. opened a bank account last week, first
time in years the bank clerk dinna hand me an IRS fatca form! don't know if
it was a mistake or a decision by our new overlords to "defy" us
extraterritorial law.
...makes me wonder what would happen if the chinese government demanded that
us banks require all chinese national customers to fill out chinese
government tax reporting forms when opening savings accounts at local banks
and credit unions. |
