我们来分析一下这些好像很喜欢烙印的
老美同学。 Elop, Meg Whitman, Beth Jacob
-------------- Elop, Former candidate for Microsoft CEO
Now head of Microsoft Mobile (???) ----------------
From Elop's wiki:
Elop was a director of consulting for Lotus Development Corporation
before becoming CIO for Boston Chicken in 1992,[10][11] which filed for
Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1998.[12] In the same year, he joined
Macromedia's Web/IT department[11] and worked at the company for seven
years,[13] where he held several senior positions, including CEO from
January 2005[14] for three months before their acquisition by Adobe Systems
was announced in April 2005
.[7][15]
He was then president of worldwide field operations at Adobe, tendering
his resignation in June 2006 and leaving in December,[16] after which
he was the COO of Juniper Networks for exactly one year from January 2007 –
2008.[11][17]
From January 2008 to September 2010, Elop worked for Microsoft as the
head of the Business Division, responsible for the Microsoft Office and
Microsoft Dynamics line of products, and as a member of the company's
senior leadership team. It was during this time that Microsoft's Business
Division
released Office 2010.[18]
注意,Juniper是烙印建立的公司。 Adobe是烙印占领的公司。 Elop从微软"和亲"诺

----------------------- Meg Whitman --------------------------
Former Ebay, now HP CEO

2. Ebay's outsourcing department worker on ebay:
http://www.wesaidgotravel.com/employee-speak-ebays-outsourcing-
I always had to defend my job in the Outsourcing Department, since
outsourcing was never a popular topic. eBay’s former CEO, Meg Whitman,
ran for governor of California and was defeated in large part to her
role in outsourcing jobs from eBay. My thoughts on outsourcing in general
are mixed.
eBay did a good job when it outsourced, because it never laid off any
internal employees. In fact, outsourcing allowed the company to move
people from lower level jobs like answering basic emails and chats, to
higher level, such as account management. But perhaps it would have
been possible to do both.
Many of us felt Meg Whitman pandered to the stock analysts. The stock
value was her only concern, and the stock analysts cared about margins.
So she did what she had to do to improve the margins. I’m glad Obama
found ways to incentivize companies to return work to the US. I wish he
got more credit for doing so in the US. We have a notoriously short memory.
3.
Glassdoor's review of Ebay:
http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-eBay-Inc-RVW15
“Very bad management. Conduct mass layoff recently, using moving to
Seattle as excuse. What a bad business decision.”
Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
I have been working at eBay Inc. full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Work life balance is reasonable.
Cons – A lot of politics among camp of management that came from big
companies.
Advice to Senior Management – Blame the non-performance of eBay division on
the management rather than the rank and file. No leadership.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
----------------- Beth Jacob: former Target CIO ----------------
烙印会扔老美CIO去献祭。
自己只会take credit的。

All told, up to five "malware.binary" alarms reportedly sounded, each graded
at the top of FireEye's criticality scale, and which were seen by Target's
information security teams first in Bangalore, and then Minneapolis.

===================
2011年target CIO 鼓吹外包。 讽刺啊!
BANGALORE: Beth M Jacob, executive vice-president and CIO at Target
Corporation — the second biggest US discount retailer -- is at the cutting
edge of business where companies are scrambling to sell through iPads,
online social networks and mobile phones.
Technology and outsourcing is at the core of Target's vision to become a $
100 billion retailer over the next few years, from around $67 billion in
annual revenues right now. In many ways, Jacob's over billion-dollar IT
budget reflects the changing ways of technology buying, which is shifting to
newer online models and is driven by expansions in fresh geographic markets
.
Led by the world's biggest retailer Walmart, which is now outsourcing
software projects to Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro, US retailers are asking
vendors to offer insights into businesses, beyond labour arbitrage and back-
office projects.
According to Jacob, 49, Target today also holds its third party vendors
accountable for helping drive increased revenue. "We absolutely want them to
help us on the innovation agenda, so I expect the third party to go beyond
the base expectation of pounding out work.
I would expect them to bring value add in form of competitive pricing,
better quality and fewer defects, new ideas in business process that we can
engage in. The expectations from our partners are fair and high," she said.
Even as consumer confidence in the US remains tepid amid stubborn
unemployment and economic uncertainties, retail giants like Target are
stepping up IT spends. The $67-billion, US-based retailer has increased its
IT budget by over 12% in the past year as it puts its weight behind future
bets and gets ready to roll out its ecommerce platform next month. "The past
year we grew it by over 12%.
That is just about continuing to invest in our core, growing the business
along different product lines. So it's about the whole core of the business
including dot com," Jacob said.
"We are investing in building for Canada. So, our investment in technology
is actually far greater than the number I gave you," she said. Target is
making its first foray outside the US into Canada where it plans to open 100
-150 stores by 2013.
The second-largest discount retailer in the US after Walmart, Target has its
own information technology set-up in Bangalore, employing more than 2,000
techies and works with almost all the large Indian IT services providers
including Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro.
Though the company does not reveal its total spends on IT, industry watchers
say it is likely to be nearly a billion dollars, divided between multiple
vendors. Consumer shift towards shopping on smarter devices, global
expansion and a push into online have been driving global IT spends in the
retail industry and Target is no different.
The company, which is aiming at revenues of over $100 billion in the next
six-seven years, is set to launch what it calls the "largest e-commerce
development in the world right now" next month. This coincides with the end
of its contract with Amazon, which has been hosting its online platform so
far. Target started work on its e-commerce platform two years back.
Developed to look and feel like its brick and mortar stores, the portal also
focuses on areas like personalisation, recommendations and social media. "
We built this to set us up for continued innovation.
We bought together a dozen or more best of breed players in different spaces
. Two personalisation, two search... we investigated who had the
capabilities in different pieces and then we married all of them together.
This allows us to stay fresh and innovate quickly," Jacob said. The
development has been led by its team in Bangalore which will also operate it
in the long term. A study by Forrester Research says Internet retail spends
will grow 10% every year till 2015, as customers gradually shift online.
The total US e-commerce market is pegged at $176 billion and Target has some
pretty interesting numbers: Target got $5 billion worth of revenues in just
a few weeks around Christmas from online sales. In 2009, the firm had
nearly one billion visitors on its online portal.
Other expanded offerings at Target include forays into food and
pharmaceuticals retailing. The Minnesota-based company has launched its food
chain "PFresh" and will also be launching smaller, urban stores in 2012, in
a move away from its large format model.
The large Indian IT services providers get over 10% of their revenues from
the global retail industry, providing services ranging from application
development and maintenance to business intelligence and analytics.
Some of the world's top retailers like UK's Tesco and America's specialty
retailer , Home Depot, have been outsourcing projects to Indian third party
service providers — TCS and Infosys in particular — and to their own
captive centres for supporting existing systems and developing newer
applications.
Tesco, for one, saves over $100 million every year by outsourcing IT
projects to India, and also drives projects globally from its captive unit
in Bangalore. New technology spends emerged as the highest priority for
retailers in a KPMG survey published earlier this month.
Almost 50% of those surveyed said they would increase spends on technology
though they see only a moderate improvement in the economy, revenues and
employment in the US in the year ahead.
Some of the other areas where Target has been leveraging India's tech
prowess include mobility: the team in Bangalore worked on enabling the new
online platform on mobile, developed apps for iPad and even for handling its
social media activities. Incidentally, Target has over two million "friends
" on Facebook.
