Are Minoan frescos fake?
I assume you’re referring to the frescoes from Knossos “restored” by
Arthur Evans, the archaeologist who rediscovered the Minoan civilization. I
put the word restored in inverted commas because there has been considerable
debate about whether what he did could be classed as restoration. His
opponents have claimed that he more-or-less made up his version of the
palace based on the art and architecture of his day. This is an extreme
opinion and not one that would be held by most archaeologists today.
So, they are not fake, but nor are they completely accurate to the originals
. However, very few restorations or recreations are, simply down to how much
detail has been lost.

所有东西都拍卖了，协会买的只是空屋子了。 协会到处借家具壁画， 布置摆设不一定
对，但可以让你看到当年的风采。 |
