x****n 发帖数: 321 | 1 Jeffrey Franklin was passed among three families in his first 10 years.
He was born deaf and with autism, and the Binghamton-area homes he went to
live in weren't up to the job. He went to school with bruises, a relative
recalls. He didn't learn much sign language and struggled to communicate.
He was hard to handle. He needed nighttime pull-ups and couldn't be left
alone, even in his preteen years.
Yet, Jeffrey showed great joy, a love of life.
He hugged strangers and asked spectators at baseball games to share their
French fries. He got hooked on trains and cartoon characters - once wearing
the mustache from his Mario Halloween costume to school for a month.
Finally, when he was 11, Jeffrey was taken in by a couple who wanted him -
quirks and all.
The couple, Heather Franklin and Ernest Franklin II, desperately wanted
children but could not have their own. They welcomed Jeffrey into their
family in rural Chenango County. Heather Franklin even knew sign language,
letting her speak to her new son.
Jeffrey's aunt remembers asking him if he wanted a mom and a dad he wouldn't
have to share. Excitedly, he signed one word: "yes."
But his new life was too good to be true.
Early March 1, a fire devoured the Franklin family's double-wide trailer,
trapping the 16-year-old boy inside. His parents survived, but Jeffrey was
found dead inside.
There is a reason the couple escaped, according to investigators: They
started the fire.
The Franklins were charged with killing their son and burning down their
home to hide the crime. | k*******g 发帖数: 7321 | | s********i 发帖数: 17328 | 3 这个上次新闻里讲过,现在给小孩卖保险,都怕这个。 |
