Officials at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch released a statement
Monday afternoon saying the facility received eight patients between Friday
and Saturday with “probable food-borne symptoms.”
Three died and one remained hospitalized Monday, with the rest recovering
enough to be released, the hospital said. Officials did not immediately
identify the victims or say when each of them had died.
KTVU reported that the people who got sick all ate Thanksgiving dinner at an
event hosted by a local church and held at the American Legion Hall on
Sixth Street in Antioch.
The Contra Costa County Health Department is investigating the illnesses.
According to Sutter Delta officials, health department experts “do not
believe there is any risk to the general public.” |
