Perth is the gateway to the resource-rich state of Western Australia, or WA.
Sex workers can earn $200,000 a year here — even more than the miners.

state to state. A bill before the Parliament of Western Australia proposes

assure you that many people working in minimal wage jobs would take this

expectation. I have had series of 16hrs days to meet deadline. I am sure

exploitation and some do not. Another such example is early opening of
stores on 'black friday'.

Well, NPR has wasted yet another opportunity to report on the myriad of
pressing problems here in the U.S. and instead sought to "enlighten" us
about prostitution in Australia. Of course, reading down this thread, the
story generated a lot of commentary about "free market economics" and
exploitation. which is always the discussion whenever prostitution is
covered by the Media.
My problem with this story is that we all know what sort of behavior comes
about during all gold-rush situations. I'm sure NPR could have made this an
even more "interesting" piece by comparing and contrasting the "
prostitutional-economic-calculus" in Australia to that of N.D.......yes,
that would have been something to educate us............right?
