for information on the murder of a family in Cypress.
Officials are now offering up to $70,000 for information leading to the
arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible.
Maoye Sun, his wife Mei Xie, and their two sons, ages 7 and 9, were shot to
death on Jan. 30 in their home in the 14000 block of Fosters Creek. The
Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences identified the children as
Timothy Sun and Titus Sun.
All four had gunshot wounds to the head, authorities said.
We will not rest until we find the persons responsible for this cruel crime,
Sheriff Adrian Garcia said at a press conference Wednesday.
The parents were immigrants from China, and news of the murder has rattled
Houston s Chinese community.
What s really troubling about this particular crime is that nobody really
understands why it happened, said State Rep. Gene Wu, who spoke at a vigil
for the victims. For the community, that s really scary.
Wu and other local Asian leaders are urging residents who may have known the
family to come forward. Detectives are having trouble gathering clues
because many in the community are simply afraid to come forward.
The Asian community comes from a culture where you are told to keep your
head down, don t rock the boat, a problem says Wu. What we want to tell
people is we need your help.
We are asking people to remember this family, think of the children and
lives lost lost we want justice for them, Wu said.
The sheriff's office said Clear Channel Outdoor will display advertisements
announcing the increased reward on its digital billboards.
