Mr. Putin has been already accused for giving Chinese kilometers of Russian
territory right near the only major city in our Far East, Khabarovsk, withou
t any kind of referendum in 2008. State media weren't exactly willing to let
the critics voice their concerns broadly.
I am *very* eager to hear the terms of the deal in depth, to be sure our pre
sident didn't sell our country to Chinese in the long term to keep his presi
dency afloat for the next few years. I don't buy Miller's "commercial secret
" excuse. |

Russia and China have never been natural allies. Even a cursory review of
their joint history reveals many more periods of hostility than cooperation.
This little business deal has nothing to do with a failure of American
foreign policy, despite several comments in that direction, but reflects
present realities on the Eurasian land mass. Just be patient, let these two
take a little time to remember how much they dislike each other, and both
nations will resume their wary, hostile relationship.
