The proper response to China's belligerence is to move two more carrier
strike groups into East Asia and into the East China Sea (remember the
purported "Pivot to Asia"???). That would give the USA three strike groups
in the area.
Then, the United States (and any other willing ally) should offer fighter
escort to the aircraft of ANY country that wants to transit the East China
Sea ADIZ. If any Chinese aircraft challenges the passage, or displays
hostile intent, the pilot should be given verbal warning, followed by "wing
flapping" fired by tracer rounds aimed where they would do no harm. If the
Chinese pilot continues his aggressive behavior, other US Navy aircraft can
be called up to ensure the Chinese pilot knows that any further aggressive
action will end badly for him, personally. If he still continues with
aggressive behavior, Navy pilots should fire tracers ahead of his aircraft
to signal their intent and order the Chinese pilot to either return to his
base, to a neutral base, to Okinawa, or to ditch with the assurance of
rescue. If all else fails, and his aggressive actions continue, fire on him
and shoot him down.
This is why we have the Navy can project power in forward deployed areas, to
meet challenges to our interests and those of our allies. |
