after its nose gear collapsed while landing at New York's LaGuardia Airport,
authorities said.
There were conflicting reports about possible injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration said no injuries were reported aboard
Flight 345, the Associated Press reported. But local TV stations said at
least thee people suffered minor injuries when the Boeing 737 landed at 5:45
p.m. ET.
The aircraft carried 149 passengers and crew.
The plane's emergency chutes were deployed, and WABC-TV reported that
passengers were evacuated. WNBC-TV initially reported that although the
plane's emergency chutes had been deployed, passengers remained on board.
But the station later said witnesses reported seeing passengers sliding down
the chutes.
Emergency crews surrounded the crippled aircraft on Runway 4.
Authorities closed the airport temporarily. |
