It is a great pleasure to meet you, friends from the press. The 18th
national congress of the communist party of china came to a successful
conclusion yesterday. During the past week, you have extensively covered the

first plenary meeting and elected the new central leadership. The plenary
meeting elected seven members of the standing committee of the political
bureau and elected me as the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
Here let me present you my six colleagues, who have also been elected as
members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau. They are Comrade
Li Keqiang, Comrade Zhang Dejiang, Comrade Yu Zhengzheng, Comrade Liu
Yunshan, Comrade Wang Qishan, and Comrade Zhang Gaoli. Comrade Li Keqiang
served on the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 17th CPC
Central Committee. The others were all members of the Political Bureau of
the 17th Central Committee and are quite familiar to you. Here, on behalf of
the new central leadership, I wish to sincerely thank the whole party for
the trust you have placed in us. We shall do everything we can to live up to
your trust and fulfill our mission. The party membership’s trust and the
whole nation’s expectation are a source of tremendous encouragement for us
and put enormous responsibility on our shoulders. It is a major
responsibility we owe to the nation. Ours is a great nation. Throughout five
millennium of our civilization and progress, the Chinese nation has made an
indelible contribution to human progress. During the modern period, our
nation has undergone many trials and tribulations and faced its gravest hour
. Since then, numerous Chinese patriots have waged hard struggles for the
sake of the great renewal of the Chinese nation. But time and again, they
have failed. At that point, the Communist Party of China was founded. It has
rallied and led the people in stacking into the breach and making tenacious
efforts to turn the poor and backward old China into a new China, ever
closer to the goal of national prosperity and strength. The great renewal of
the Chinese nation has thus embraced a bright prospect never seen before.
1. 到目前位置，基本上是没有语法错误。
2. 用词总体而言非常考究、准确。值得商榷的仅仅有两个地方：一个是经受考验的“
考验”翻译成了trial（这个也可以意会），再就是“前赴后继”的翻译，我没有听太
清楚，感觉应该是“stacking into the breach"。stacking（我也可能听错这个词了
）不好说，但breach考究来讲的话，是莎士比亚在Henry V里形容法国对英军的防护堡
垒，所以用在这里也算是贴切，只是有点过于文艺了。
3. 至于口音。英式发音比起美式发音是政治上正确。再者标准伦敦腔或美语在一个完
全属于中国的场合不伦不类。
这翻译不可能100%完全地道，但是水平已经非常高了。我虽然没听写后半段，想必也不
会差的太远。
对这翻译吹毛求疵的人：难道非要去指责别人的英语才能显示自己英语很牛？再者想想
，若把原中文稿件给你，你能翻出一个什么水平？能达到这一半吗？ | a******g

指责得人也是说翻译有问题啊。
我又查不到原始翻译稿件，听一段下来说“翻译”的没有问题，怎么错了？
你不懂翻译是translate，口译是interpret吗？
