I am glad to see UCSD has taken the first step to investigate Dr. Kubiak’s
discrimination case against Chinese people. Based on the severity of this

First, the proof shows that the lab rules have been staying on Dr. Kubiak’s

Last, Let’s image if Dr. Kubiak used the “N-word” instead of “Chinaman”
on his website, what consequence should be?
Therefore, I strongly appeal for the dismiss of Dr. Kubiak from his position
at UCSD. Only this will show UCSD is serious about racial discrimination
with zero tolerance. Only this will bring the reputation back to UCSD. I
appreciate your time and look forward to your action about this case.

It is not a humorous case. It is not an assault to a single person. Dr.
Kubiak assaulted the whole Chinese Community.

I can think of some languages if you want to draft this letter on your own.
I m no native speaker, so these are just suggestions.
Even if the remarks on the "Lab Rules" were for humorous intention, it
clearly showed INSENSITIVENESS, POOR JUDGEMENT and DISRESPECT TOWARD
MINORITIES.
Dr. Kubiak was a former head of the department. This incident reflects
extremely poorly on the department and UCSD.
It is appalling that the apology letter on Kubiak's website is only 86-work
long! This fact leads us to believe that Dr. Kubiak does not fully
appreciate the weight of the matter.
It is outrageous for a highly educated person to make such remarks in any
circumstance to begin with. And it is even more outrageous for Dr Kubiak to
claim that he was completely oblivious about the existance of such language
on his own website.
UCSD and the department need to show that efforts are made and will be made
to educate its faculties and staff on work ethics.

I don't think you can have him removed though, all you can do is make some
noise and make them feel a bit more uncomfortable.

two years despite numerous prior notices and objections to him
from readers and visitors of said page. As the former Chemistry
Department chairman and now full professor, it was obvious that
Dr. Kubiak fully appreciated the impact of his racist web page
against Chinese but intended and maintained them for more than
two years. Such blatant and callous racism is unbefitting any
UCSD employee, much less a person of his high position, rank
and influence, as it creates a very bad example and serves to
incite and encourage racism against Chinese, by his personal
lead and example.
Dr. Kubiak's diehard racist intransigence has reflected over
the past two years has reflected badly upon himself, his title
and position, and UCSD. His latest so-called "apology" was
purposely deceptive, misleading, vague and evasive, trying to
insinuate falsely that he had just discovered said racist page.
This of course was contrary to fact and served to deceive the
public, UCSD and his intended victims into believing that said
racist web page of his was created by someone else and without
his prior approval or knowledge. The truth and facts were of
course exactly the opposite. Dr. Kubiak had knowingly, purposely
and jealously protected and guarded his willfully racist page
all along for more than two years against numerous complaints
of its racist nature.
In view of the above facts and circumstances, Dr. Kubiak's
apology was no apology at all, but a product of bad faith
and deliberate deception. It was his bad-faith whitewash and
cover-up and thus a continuation and aggravation of his racist
agenda, acts and conduct of the past two years, and consistent
with his callous racist insensitivities throughout that time,
adding insult to injury. His sham "apology" for his long-running
racist web page and misconduct, is but a concealed continuation
of his un-repentent racist agenda. His latest attempt to dupe
his victims and the public by painting a knowingly false picture
of the actual facts and circumstances and his chief and primary
role in protecting and perpetuating said racist web page exposed
his total lack of true contrition or sincerity in his so-called
"apology".
UCSD should not tolerate Dr. Kubiak's racism two years ago and
certainly should not tolerate it now. His continued gamesmanship
in his so-called "apology" is an insult on intelligence and only
aggravated his willful and intolerable racism and misconduct. Dr
Dr. Kubiak's racist acts and conduct and his deceptive "apology"
are the worst examples of a crafty racist and totally unworthy of
the faculty of UCSD and the moral standards of the community. The
above facts would have justified Dr. Kubiak's immediate dismissal
from UCSD two years ago and certainly amply justify his immediate
dismissal now. Given the above, Dr. Kubiak's continued employment
at UCSD would place UCSD in disrepute and create a heavy liability
for UCSD and its community, and cause irreparable and permanent,
long-term damage to the otherwise good reputation of UCSD, its
otherwise favorable public image and prestige.
This is therefore the important moment for UCSD to show without
hesitancy that the University is truly serious in its avowed
policy of zero-tolerance for racism on its campus, much less
within its faculty ranks. While Dr. Kubiak has already badly
tarnished UCSD, it is not too late for UCSD to stop further
injury and harm that an intransigent racist faculty member can
continue to create and cause. UCSD can recover some of its lost
reputation and prestige through resolute, immediate and proactive
administrative action, which in this case would be nothing short
of Dr. Kubiak's immediate dismissal, which is also the necessary
and responsible thing for UCSD to do under the circumstances,
and which is also our demand in the interest of both Dr. Kubiak's
victims and that of UCSD, and in the interest of rooting out
racism on UCSD campus, and also sending the right public message.
