HONG KONG—Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. bought a 12.02% stake in Chinese
insurer Taikang Life Insurance Co., China's fifth-largest insurer by
premiums, the firms said in a joint statement Friday.
The U.S. investment bank has received approval from the China Insurance
Regulatory Commission to invest in the Chinese insurer, the statement said,
without disclosing the financial details of the deal.
