I am Special Agent Rick Roberson with the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) out of the Champaign, Illinois office. The reason I'm contacting you
is that one of our responsibilities as an Agent is to get into the
community and make follow-up contacts with our United States foreign
visitors such as yourself. I'd simply like to meet with you to go over some
topics such as the research you're conducting here and the overall US
experience in general.
I realize that contact with the FBI can often be viewed as a stressful
event, however please let me assure you that you are in no trouble of any
kind and have no reason to be concerned. If you would please contact me at
your earliest convenience I would really appreciate it. I'll leave my
contact information below. The office number and my email will likely be
the easiest way to reach me. Thank you. I look forward to meeting with you

研究可能涉密了，所以要进行背景调查。我就被查过一次，很程式化的。
