Japanese authorities say they have released 14 crew members of a Chinese
fishing trawler seized last week in the East China Sea.
But the captain of the vessel remains in custody following the incident,
which happened in disputed waters.
Prosecutors have until 19 September to decide whether to lay formal charges
against him.
China has made repeated protests over the incident and warned that

中方敦促日方立即放还我国渔船船长
“盼船长早日和家人团聚”
昨天下午3时，中国政府派出的包机缓缓降落在福州长乐国际机场停机坪。身穿短
袖T恤、休闲长裤的14名渔民陆续走出机舱，等候在机场的渔民亲属与他们紧紧拥抱在
一起。
由外交部、农业部和福建省政府相关部门工作人员组成的联合工作组同机返回。
“能够平安回来，很感谢党和政府的关怀，感谢祖国人民对我们的关心。”来自福
建省莆田市的渔民王国华说。
“日方扣押我们和我们的船完全是非法的，钓鱼岛本来就是我们自己的地方，我们
渔民祖祖辈辈都是去那里打鱼，日方凭什么扣押我们？！我们坚决拥护祖国政府的立场
。”王国华说。
事件发生后，党中央、国务院始终牵挂被扣船员的安危。国务委员戴秉国12日零时
紧急召见日本驻华大使，郑重表明中国政府的重大关切和严正立场。外交部长杨洁篪以
及多位外交部领导和中国驻日本大使多次向日方提出严正交涉和抗议。中国驻日本使馆
第一时间派员赶赴冲绳县石垣岛探望被扣船长和船员，为他们提供照料并同日方交涉。
