I lived in michigan for just a little over 3 yrs and been to california a
few times. never had kids when i was in michigan, :-), but IMHO,
Michigan
pros,
1. summer and fall are really nice, weather is pretty mild from late may to
oct. The fall color in UP is gorgeous if you go at the right time. there are
plenty of things for you to do. hiking, kayaking, fishing, just to name a
few.
2. cost of living is pretty reasonable compare to some of the other
metropolitan areas.
cons,
1. winter or even spring simply sucks. black ice on the roads, 5in of snow,
below 0F temperature.
2. job opportunities are somewhat limited. if you are working in the IT
industry, most of the jobs are related to the auto industry around the

pros,
1. weather is nice. i was there last year around octo, flew to LA, and the
weather is really nice compare to where im living now.
2. right next to the ocean, plenty of things to do all year around.
3. very convenient for chinese americans. lots of shops, restaurants.
4. more opportunities, lots of tech companies, especially for programmers.
cons,
1. cost of living. the housing price in certain areas of CA is simply
shocking. a 2,000 sq ft sfh in a desirable neighborhood can cost over 2mi... | n*****t

加州公立教育系统被proposition 13搞烂了。除非你负担得起好学区百万美元小黑屋，
不然就别想什么好的教育了。
40K考虑到房价差什么都不是。去LA版看看大致多少才能在加州生活的得体，再和这里
比较下就知道了。
