My comments on Michigan Football in these years
My two cents. Talking about the RR's defensive scheme, he hired the wrong
guy, Greg Robinson. RR could rely completely on a DC if the DC had the
caliber like Greg (another Greg) Mattison. Unfortunately, Greg Robinson
failed again after Syracuse.
Coaching staff hiring and player recruiting are tough strategies of decision
making, which are related to charismatic leadership and managerial skills
of a team. As many people pointed out RR preferred to recruit small size
players, how could that defense match the Big 10 power rusher-passer
offenses? RR's seasons of 09 and 10 gave a hyperbolic hope during non-
conference games with a list of beautiful data, and then collapsed when
entering the Big 10 conference games and the data became ugly.
Talking about Brady Hoke, it is no doubt that Hoke is Michigan's HOPE.
Before the season started, I predicted the best wins in regular season would
be 10-2 and I got it right. The two losses I guessed would be to Nebraska (
Michigan won instead) and Iowa, and Michigan could defeat the little brother
this season but I was wrong. My standpoints come from the attitude and
spirit that Hoke instills to the players and speaks to the public. I could
also feel the encouragements Hoke delivered in various venues when I read
the news from The Michigan Daily and other media. I like his words on
toughness, accountability, physicality, Ohio, and the list will be longer
and longer. Coach Hoke has Greg Mattison so that the defense could be
turnaround just in one year. This success makes the failure of RR even
pessimistic. Undoubtedly, RR is a great coach and I love to watch his
offensive philosophy, but that defense wins Big 10 still works.
Looking forward to the 2012 season, I have a little worried about the
offense in that I don't think Al Borges can tune a strong offense that is
competitive enough to win Big 10 championship. Besides, Ohio UM has better
recruits that will make the Game more challenging and unpredictable. It is a
tougher game in this coming season. I will pay more attention to what and
how Hoke says to the media whether he can deliver even stronger encouraging
signals like last season.
I am very sensitive to this kind of spiritual information to build
confidence on Michigan football team. In 2006, at the Game, No 2 Michigan vs
No 1 Ohio, I was at the Big House to watch how the Michigan team was
defeated. It was not a caliber of No 2 team, more like a dilapidated car (
Carr retired a season later). My heart was like that day's weather, dripping
, not water but blood. I believe the motivation and momentum are very
critical to a team’s attitude on winning games when the players prepare for
the tough games, especially the Game and the little brother game. | U****U 发帖数: 58 | 2 Excellent article. I agree Hoke is a wonderful coach, not as good as Jim
Harbaugh, but the best we can get now. Next season will be tough, with the
first game against Nick Saban's Bama. The Wolverine flag is still flying in
my yard even after the season ended - Go Blue! |
